Your cringing is absolutely fine, but what really matters isn't the actual words (which few people can hear anyway) but the SOUND and the overall emotional IMPACT of thousands of fans singing.

Besides, a really good song has to have SOME words, doesn't it? Otherwise, everybody would just have to go "Der-der-de derrr de derr, derrr... "

Oh, don't get me wrong. The Stoke, Orient and Brentford away games have been breaths of fresh air recently with a change from the 1000mph GOSBTS abd the Al-bi-on, Albi-on borefest so keep 'em coming. There's bound to be some really cracking chants if we all put our thinking caps on.
