New Albion mascot scheme: 8 paid places, 2 free places from Gully's Gang, 1 from AITC

The problem facing the club now must be the massive disparity between supply and demand for this - we have thousands and thousands of eager young fans and most would, I suspect, want to be a mascot, which means most would never get a chance to do it.

However, the obvious disparity in the new setup is 8 places for sale to go onto the pitch with 11 players. This makes me wonder if there will still be the opportunity to be 'drawn from the hat' (and, if so, 3 places is more than was the case before) whilst those who are able can now guarantee a spot. If that's the case, it's not bad, is it?

Also - full kit must be c£60, 3 lower West seats is c£120 and 3 meals is c£20, so you're not paying much of a premium for the experience.

If there are three Gully's Gang spaces I am happy. Also I guess if the spaces aren't filled by Friday lunchtime they could offer the rest to random Gully Gang members? My son was called in as a late replacement for his mascot experience which slightly added to the frill (for me at least!)

This is GREAT news! My son was never picked to be a freebie so at Withdean on two seperate occasions i've contacted the club and asked to pay and despite initial optimism they declined. Fantastic news as it's not alot of money for a great memory and gives more people the opportunity.

This is going to raise around £25k a season at most I guess - that's hardly going to improve too much for the club - however makes a HUGE difference to giving kids a fantastic day out and parents a great pride in seeing their kids out there. Would rather they stuck another 10p on pies/pints and keep it as a freebie myself. And I don't have any kids

this i think its a real bad move ( BHA FC outlook ok if your wealthy we want you as a mascot but if your from a poor family f*** off )

So, that's an INCREASE of 200% on the number of free spaces per game to that previously offered, right?

(Was it 1 per game before?)

I'm just getting a list together of all of the championship clubs packages and details...

Always liked to think we were different to your average club... (mainly through the fight for the community stadium like)

Now that there are 3 free spaces i'm happy, i hate the idea that if you don't have money there is no chance of you becoming a mascot.

Now if parents want to spoil there kids i'm all for it, i don't care if they are ripped off, more fool them. still think it should be free for all, but meh.

That's good to know and does make a difference to my opinion. Although it is still a shame that you will always have to pay £350 to be able to get the traditional photo on the halfway line with the officials and captains.

My initial disappointment has lessened

No, my opinion of T:Bloom doesn't change just because of the way his employees behave. If Gus picks Ryan Harley and we lose 4-0 I will criticise Gus and not the man who has employed him. Similarly, if Barber rips our soul out and stamps all over it, I will criticise him for his lack of imagination in the marketing arena.

Totally different. Analogies comparing football ON the pitch to money making businesses NEVER work, here's another classic example. Also on a side note, you seem to be suggesting you NEVER slag off players, which is LAUGHABLE.

This isn't about Barber having "bad days at the office". He's doing what Tony wants him to do. Tony is complicit, compliant and comfortable with what Barber's putting in to place. Do you have any issue with that?

Thread over for me. I think that's fair enough. Although it does mean the experience is not quite the same in that you don't have your photo taken on your own with the captains and the ref etc. But I guess it's a fair compromise, and it does mean you are now three times more likely to get picked than last season.

OK fantastic - This has made me feel a lot better (altho still don't like the idea of paying to be the 'main mascot' now as it were and slightly watered down version of being one of 11 mascots available BUT that's being very picky and I would like to say some of my faith has been restored in the 'new' Albion.

One thing Bozza, would you mind finding out whether the 3 free packages include the kit / meal vouchers / match tickets etc? If they do that's amazing - if not that's understandable...

Well said - you've followed my thought patterns on this thread perfectly :)

I assume so (was it only one per game before people?), although i'd imagine from the Withdean years we've tripled in memebership so prob the same as then

The blow has been softened with there being 3 from GG being picked, which is of course more than the 1 we had last season - although that person led the team out with the captain and had a photo......which you now need to pay £350 for - one for the "wealthy" fans.
