I don't have kids, but is £250 really that big a deal for something as special as this? If grandad+dad were fans, £125 each to see their grandchild going out with the players + 3 seats? I was never a mascot despite being a kid at Goldstone and Gillingham, is it really THAT big a deal?

Firstly, I'm just completely against the entire concept of SELLING the right to be a mascot. Its a horrible grubby idea.

Ignoring that, and looking at the 'value' of the package, I still say its pretty poor. If you allow for the value of the seats and kit, you are paying about £160 for the right to be ONE of ELEVEN mascots. I could imagine someone with the cash to spare, shelling out for their child to be THE centre of attention, but not to be one of a whole bunch.

Then don't pay for them to be a mascot, it's not compulsory.

Seeing as I can't afford it, my son will now never be a mascot, even though he's been a member of Gully's Gang since he was born. He's now 4 and getting close to when he could possibly be picked.

Before making posts like yours above, think. If it doesn't mean anything to you, move along.

It looks like GG will get 3 spots per game. But don't let that stop you.

Leeds offer it as a freebie drawn out of their junior club membership.

Sheff Weds appear to charge through the nose.

If I had time I'd survey them all but I don't!

This should be free, the only way i could see a justified charge would be for 1901 privileges as well, table meals kit access to players lounge after the game! a full on VIP experience, not a half arsed rip off as so many things are.

This is modern day football. We are not alone in doing this kind of thing. Its all about money unfortunately. I'm not saying it, or the price is right or wrong, but its clear, Tony Bloom has set out to increase revenue, and who are we to argue when he has dug our club out of the shit? If that is what he wants to do, so be it. If people don't want to pay, maybe they'll change their mind. But this is the price anyone pays for success.

I think that is a reasonable assumption as well. If this is the case, then fair play really and I for one will stop moaning.

If not then I'm chaining my long neck to the goalposts at the Sheff Wednesday game

The problem facing the club now must be the massive disparity between supply and demand for this - we have thousands and thousands of eager young fans and most would, I suspect, want to be a mascot, which means most would never get a chance to do it.

However, the obvious disparity in the new setup is 8 places for sale to go onto the pitch with 11 players. This makes me wonder if there will still be the opportunity to be 'drawn from the hat' (and, if so, 3 places is more than was the case before) whilst those who are able can now guarantee a spot. If that's the case, it's not bad, is it?

Also - full kit must be c£60, 3 lower West seats is c£120 and 3 meals is c£20, so you're not paying much of a premium for the experience.

I must admit, if there is not a GG allocation per game, then that is a bit much + ambitious to think they will cover it all for every game.

IF this is the case - and that is nothing more than a guess - then that would soften my stance on this considerably. Charging anyone to be a mascot is not something I'm ever going to be comfortable with, though.

My boy is 9 and been a gullys gang member since he was born, not been a mascot either.

I don't buy this nonsense that we mustn't criticise Barber because he's 'only doing what Bloom has told him to'.

That's rubbish in my opinion. Barber will be earning a lot of money and Bloom will expect him to deliver ideas and results without having to hold his hand. Sure, anything major will get run past Bloom, but that's not to say every decision the club makes is. The whole point of Barber (if there is one) is that he makes the calls on a daily basis, hence I will continute to attribute disgraceful, soul-destroying plans such as this to him and his great big greedy head.

My point is you can't spew such hatred towards Barber without some of it inevitably landing on Bloom. How you feel about Barber must partially colour your feelings towards our saviour, surely? Bloom is fully aware of what Barber is doing and could rein him in at any time. Notice how he hasn't.

Also, it's not a case of "the evidence mounts", is it? After you were PROVED wrong recently regarding previous ticket prices hikes etc.

But you said 'the evidence mounts'. Assuming that this was him who saw this mascot thing through, this would be his first major price levy.

Pies, pints, tickets etc. were done well before he arrived.
