What a shame that is. Does it go a bit against the Community spirit of the club, or am I being over sensitive?

How many mascot spaces are there per game?

Edit. Just read the link - looks like you can have 10 player mascots @ £250 each - but you don't get in the official photograph at the halfway line with the officials and captains, and you have to buy any other photos taken by the photographer. That is pretty shit for £250

Do you get a full kit still?

Albion fans between the age of 6 and 12 years old have the opportunity to be a Player Mascot at home fixtures throughout the 2012-13 season.

The club is selling packages for the game against Birmingham City on Saturday 29th September, with one Captain's Mascot package available for the game at £350 and seven Player packages available at £250 each.

The Player Mascot packages include three match tickets in the lower West Stand, three meal vouchers to be redeemed at a concourse kiosk on the day, a replica Albion kit, photo in the matchday programme, the chance to meet the respective player in the tunnel and then will walk out with the team to the traditional sound of Sussex by the Sea.

The Captain's Mascot package includes everything in Player Mascot package, but the individual will be the one that leads out the team alongside the Albion skipper and accompany the captain to the centre circle for the coin-toss and official photos with the four officials and the opposition captain prior to kick-off.

A selection of photos will be provided with the Captain's Mascot package; photos for the Player Mascot package will be available to download at an extra cost.

If you are interested in booking either of the packages please contact the Young Seagulls team on 01273 647244 or e-mail mascotbhafc.co.uk.

This is a real shame.

The suggestion at post #59, that the club approach a local company to cover the costs instead, as they do with Gully's Girls (Sponsored by CPA Car Parts and Accessories...) is an excellent one, and would have been hugely preferable.

What an enormous pity.

I have emailed mascotbhafc.co.uk to ask why they have done away with the Gully's Gang mascot.

I also note that unless you pay £350 for the captains mascot you get a lesser experience.

I know the club need to raise money but this seems totally against what we should be about.

If you have to pay extra to download the photos, then I guess not

Players mascots (7 per game)
They get full Albion kit, 3xAdult tickets (WSL), meal vouchers and a photo

Captains mascot (1 per game)
As above plus they get to go to the center circle for the coin toss plus extra photos.

Doesn't sound too bad to me, as someone else said welcome to the real world of a football club going for success.

If they sell them all it's £48k. But what will that buy? four weeks of Wayne Bridge?

I just think it is wrong. So if you are rich you can have your kid a mascot at the Albion but the rest can't?

Or are three spaces reserved for Gully's Gang I wonder?

This is wrong. My son has been on the list for being a mascot since he was born. I've even had email communication with the lovely Jo about it. Now they've whipped that away. Very disappointed.

Christ, people are going on like they HAVE to buy their kids a mascot place...

No, they're not. Its clear enough that you don't need to ever consider this. That doesn't stop it being a great shame. Being the mascot is a great honour for a child. Honours shouldn't be for sale.

Unless they've already bought the kit and the family has ST's................ And the photo is in the next programme, you have to pay to download and then print one yourself to put on display at home

I don't have kids, but is £250 really that big a deal for something as special as this? If grandad+dad were fans, £125 each to see their grandchild going out with the players + 3 seats? I was never a mascot despite being a kid at Goldstone and Gillingham, is it really THAT big a deal?

Not right this, a lot of kids probably want to be mascots and lead the team out and now this is only available to those who can actually afford it - i mean £250 isnt a small amount.

Should of just kept it as it was instead of finding another way to make money from fans.

So can we assume the hat and all the names of potential mascots in it has been binned?

Targeting kids to boost revenue in this way is not the way to go and goes against everything we fought for in saving the club, establishing a new home and winning back our lost generation of fans.

I get that increasing revenue will help the club sustain it's push to become bigger and better, but this seems a step too far

Maybe email the argus to ask Paul Barber this question as it seems a good idea? A 'pity' is exactly the right word to describe this. It might not seem a big deal to some but reading stories on this thread of previous mascot experiences and how many have become fans for life is brilliant. You can't put a price on this... :(

Agreed - Pls let us know outcome.

Then don't pay for them to be a mascot, it's not compulsory.

Same. The only thing I am holding on to is that by offering eight places they are still going to give three to Gully's Gang members which I guess would actually be quite fair as it would mean three times more likely to get picked than before, although the number of members has gone through the roof.

I think it's a shitty move. It's to get kids involved ffs. Shouldn't be if there parents can afford it. I've always done a bit for the club, chipped in when they've appealed, sponsored a player, enter their raffles/draws etc and i think it's time to stop all that now as they are obviously going to screw the money out of me one way or another.

I agree with people that it's a bit of a shame, but people calling it a 'disgrace' and saying that the community has been taken from our club are over the top IMO.
