My lad was mascot against Swindon at Withdean for the play off Final. He's eighteen now and comes with me to every home and away game. A fan for life.

What a shame that is. Does it go a bit against the Community spirit of the club, or am I being over sensitive?

How many mascot spaces are there per game?

Edit. Just read the link - looks like you can have 10 player mascots @ £250 each - but you don't get in the official photograph at the halfway line with the officials and captains, and you have to buy any other photos taken by the photographer. That is pretty shit for £250

FFS - Our big fear has happened :(

Sorry I know things are amazing etc but I think this is a disgrace. Paul Barber has been employed to make money and not care about tradition or the fans. Disappointed. :annoyed:

Over sensitive. Welcome to the real world of a football club going for success.

They really have done this under the radar haven't they. Do they still pick one from Gully's Gang?

My son got picked at Withdean and loved it and my daughter was hoping she would do too. We were always told when they joined from birth they had a good chance of being picked. it's a shame if they done away with this.

Why not have a Gully's Gang pick AND a paid for mascot if the club is that desperate for money.

Write a letter to Tony Bloom. Maybe chip in some ideas of how he can get his £105m+ back, without doing stuff like this, AND build a team pushing for Premier League football.

Maybe we should go back to Withdean, and play League 1 football

We might play in a Community Stadium but the Community spirit has long since departed as the brand Albion is now promoted.

Next move will be a price to be on the screen during Fanszone

This is going to raise around £25k a season at most I guess - that's hardly going to improve too much for the club - however makes a HUGE difference to giving kids a fantastic day out and parents a great pride in seeing their kids out there. Would rather they stuck another 10p on pies/pints and keep it as a freebie myself. And I don't have any kids

I appreciate your point but some things would be better left untouched and this is a completely MINIMAL cost we're talking about - a few grand a year mate! I'd just have rathered little traditional things that can help get the kids involved / hooked on Albion that are nice gestures with Gullys Gang etc were left alone..

My youngest was mascot for the Wycombe Wanderers away game a few years back, he trained with the team on the pitch pre match, and the highlight for me was when 2000 Albion fans behind the goal sang mascot, mascot give us a wave, brought tears to my eyes. He is now 18 and is a season ticket holder next to me in the North Stand.

Middle son was mascot at the Stadium of Light, Sunderland on a freezing day a few years back.......another great day.

Those were the days when Paul used to decide the mascot on the Junior Seagulls coach on the way up there.
