Press release from the universities below but presumably this will be used by the club for scanning players? Anyone of a medical bent on here able to say more? Much benefit to the club?

-------------------------------------------------

A new scanning unit which will enhance research and increase services for the public has been opened at the Brighton and Sussex Medical School, run jointly by the universities of Brighton and Sussex.
Tony Bloom, Chairman of Brighton and Hove Albion Football, was invited to cut the ribbon at the facility which houses a new £1.6m 3T MRI scanner, weighing 13 tons.
The state-of-the-art Siemens scanner, at the School’s Clinical Imaging Sciences Centre (CISC), will increase research and education, particularly in the field of neuroscience. It will also expand clinical scanning options for patients.
Tony Bloom said: “The new scanner will give a real boost to the local community in terms of state-of-the-art research that will lead to new developments in healthcare, and providing valuable services to local patients.”
Professor Mara Cercignani, Academic Director of CISC, said: “Our new MRI facility will allow researchers at the medical school, along with our colleagues at the University of Sussex and the University of Brighton, to further develop our ground-breaking research, truly bringing it into the ‘premiership’ [sic].

Worthing
Was this the device that would have gone into the basement of the hotel we were expecting to build at The Amex?

Yes, I think that is right. A little research suggests that a "mobile MRI scanner" has been used at The Amex for NHS/community health purposes and this new facility replaces that need.

Trying to answer my own question, I assume there is some relatively minor benefit to the club from this... presumably we previously had priority access to the same technology somewhere fairly local...?
