this bullshit that someone throws the question back in your face if you question Wilkins not being good enough .... has to stop.

I dont know who we can get , whos available etc This is DK's job , not mine sitting at my desk.
All i know is DK needs to employ a manager with experience and the highest profile manager he can get . This is not going to be Wilkins on either account.
A club with dwindling support , no ground and the problems we all know about .....it would be suicide to appoint a manager with no experience what so ever

FFS it doesnt matter who the bloody manager is, this squad is shit and well struggle with anybody else at the helm.

Very unfair to say Wilkins isnt up to it when your giving him shit tools to work with.

Is that the bloke who got the club promoted in his first season, kept the club up in the championship when no one had done before, turned down offers from bigger clubs because he was committed to the Albion and was loyal , took the team down but with having to sell very single player of any worth or value, having no ground or facilities and no real money for wages or transers and then was 10 seconds away from 3 wins out of 3 and a cup win and was then sacked after 7 games for a youth team manager who has now lost 3 in a row and counting ???

Thats the fella, but obviously DK knew best.

It's funny you should say that because I was never more ashamed to be an Albion fan the countless times last season I saw morons leave their seats in the south stand and start yelling abuse at a man who had taken us into the Championship and kept us up on a shoestring, only to have his best players sold and relatively little provided to restrengthen.

Did you start a thread about those morons too?

Tempting, but they're the 'vocal minority', and through sheer force of personality, noise and fear of rejection alone, are right. Probably.

To say Willkins will never be the manager we need is as bad slagging McGhee for the reasons he was slagged off. But even then, that's not the issue. The point is - McGhee has gone, the debate has been done to death, and harping on about it now is counter-productive to all concerned. Give the present incumbent all the support you can. If it happens to be Wilkins, great. If not, and it's someone else, great too.

How is it? We aren't behind a dug-out hurling abuse at a fella who tried his hardest and done well enough for us.

Wilkins will get my support but i think it would be a big mistake to give him the job full time.

The point is, under McGhee, expectations were too high. Now under Wilkins, or whoever manager should be, they will remain high and fans will become overly critical and stay away from games.

As someone who supported McGhee, I have to say I think it is fair enough that Wilkins gets criticised for the things McGhee was lambasted for, even though it is not me dishing it out.

Except that the board has let it be known that fan power and abuse can get rid of a manager, not the greatest admission for them to make, so the hysteria against the manager worked once, it will probably do so again. Deflects any flak from the board so I guess they'll find that acceptable

I don't know why this name isn't being mentioned more, but Dave Penney seems like the obvious choice. He's used to working with minimal funds, he's a great motivator, and he's currently looking for a new job...

Completely agree with Saltash Seagull (must be a West Country thing!) what a load of tossers we are turning into - the away end was like a morgue last night. We are playing with kids at the moment (careful!) and they need our help - no use at all giving them abuse. Rightly or wrongly Wilkins is our manager at the moment and he needs our full support.

To make it worse last night, I travelled up with a Yeovil supporter, which made the trip back fun

That's over-simplifying the story to appeal to the level of a Sun reader. And you know it is.

why is it bullshit, if you want Wilkins out fine, but I want a bloody name to take his place. If you think he's not good enough, fine but I still want a name. I want a name that will be happy to work in the environment that is the Albion, that is happy with the expectations of the fans and more importantly has a track record working on a very small budget. Now, until we get a name that can do that then I stick with Wilkins. Dave penny is a possibility but would he move south?

As for experience .. .. ask Watford fans.

On a low level amongst the airheads, yes, you're right. But so what?

You're saying that once the precedent of *cough* fan power has been set, it will automatically kick in from now onwards? Personally, I suspect there's a side to Dick Knight who is sick and tired of interviewing managers.

He did what he did for what he perceives as the greater good of the club - not necessarily just because some of the fans said they wanted it (although that did come into it, of course). It may have upset a few people, but that's the responsibility he has to bear. If he feels like giving the job to Dean Wilkins on a full-time basis, he will do it with a view to it being in the best interests of the club as a whole, and for that he has to consider ALL aspects of the club.

If you disagree with that choice, that's a different matter though isn't it?
