Absolutely delighted for Nazanin and her family, however, if the British taxpayers had just stumped up 400 million quid to get me out of a prison cell, I would like to think I’d be a little more grateful. Having seen her press conference earlier, she did not seem to blame Iran for her imprisonment.
As I say, delighted for her, but try be a little more grateful maybe?.

Truly parroted from your right wing websites. The money had been owed to Iran from the 70s so it wasn’t a ransom.
Yes, 5 Foreign secretaries let her down including Johnson, whose stupid comments about journalists caused her extra years in captivity.
She had gone to visit family with her toddler who has now grown to be 8. She will never get those years back. As a Mum, my heart bleeds for her.

I wouldn't be annoyed if I had been held for six years, I'd be in a rage.
Or did she not get the message in the last six years that Boris Johnson cannot be held responsible for anything ?

Why is she not raging at the tyrannical regime in Iran?
Personally I’d be fuming with Iran.If I was to return to a country that I fled from and they banged me up I’d be spitting with rage. If a country then ponyed up north of 400 million quid for my release, I’d like to think I’d have the good manners to be grateful.
Imagine thinking someone who would have been out years ago but for our current Prime Minister should be somehow “grateful”. He’s lucky she hasn’t chinned him.

In my opinion, I am entitled to one, she is incredibly ungrateful, the British taxpayers have stumped up 400 million quid , not one thank you, not once did she condemn the tyrannical regime in Iran. So pleased she is back with her family.
Didn’t hear any criticism of the regime at all (may have missed it) which I thought was a bit odd even if the criticism of our lot was justified to a large extent. She also looks remarkably well for someone who’s been in a tough prison for so long. Can’t put my finger on it and don’t have anything specific but something left me feeling just a bit uncomfortable about the whole thing
She spoke well though otherwise and hope she and her family can move forward from here.
I'm just glad that she's free from a despiccable medieval regime. Rcdreate your life Nanazin - sod the pathetic little political point scorers. Maybe it could have been handled better by HMG - I don't know, but it's certainly a platform for a section of the community to rant about. Whatever - couldn't give a flying f*** about them. The £400 million was a ‘refund’ for armaments not delivered but paid for, because the Ayotollah had taken over from the Shah, so change of regime. There were sanctions on Iran. The sanctions were removed by the UN.
You may have noticed there were three people held, not just Nazanin.
Don’t fall into the right wing press … the last 2 years or so she was on a house arrest with family over there I believe due to covid

In March 2020, Mrs Zaghari-Ratcliffe was moved from prison to house arrest at her parents’ house in Tehran because of the Covid-19 pandemic. In March 2021, her house arrest ended but her passport was not returned and new charges, of spreading propaganda, were brought against her. In April 2021, she was convicted of “propaganda activities” against Iran because she participated in a protest outside the Iranian embassy in London in 2009 and because she gave an interview to BBC Persia. She was sentenced to another year in prison, followed by a year-long travel ban, to last until 2023. She has so far been permitted to remain at her parents’ house in Tehran.
Haven’t read anything in the press……..just a slight unease. Unfounded, as I said. No doubt she’ll write a book at some point.

I thought she came across as remarkably un-bitter. She didn't talk about her incarceration at all (she didn't want to) and any lack of criticism of Iran was probably wise considering she has family there. She thanked lots of people and the only criticism she made was in asking why, if this is what it took to get her released, it took 6 years. She didn't come across as ungrateful at all, quite the opposite in fact.

She has family in Iran, and is an Iranian national who may wish to see her family again. It would we wise to choose her words.
We didn't pay £400m for her release. We owed them the money.
The two are not connected, or so we are told by the government.

Those criticising her forget, in 2013, 3 Iranian delegates, sent to mediate about the debt, were detained in a detention centre here in the U.K.
