Can't see it mentioned anywhere so apologies if it has been but Elder has had his contract cancelled at Shrewsbury at his own request. Seems he was injured for the majority of last season and couldn't get a look in at the end the end of the season. Potentially a move lined up else where, maybe AFC Wimbledon where he had a loan spell.

Thrilling thread. I'd be utterly astonished if a single person on here gave a shit.

I do, quite liked him when he was with us and saw his first start at Cheltenham...ALSO not too common for someone to request their own contract terminated so good story here...cheer up

I liked him however seeing him miss at least 5 clear cut chances one mid week home game i appreciated he was utter gash for us.

I thought he was ok....more a league 2 striker though. He had a very bad eye enjury too...nearly lost his sight after getting smashed with an elbow, I seem to recall.

I really liked him, and have followed his career since he left, so I'm certainly interested to read this. It was an horrific eye injury, and came at a time when he was in a rich vein of form. I hope he has something good lined up, and ideally at Ebbsfleet (my local team, and my sons team) who did make a couple of attempts at getting him on loan last season. Ebbsfleet are now back in the Conference, and Elder would be a fantastic addition.

Scored an injury time equaliser up at Oldham in January 2008. We played the last 80 minutes with 10 men after Hammond was sent off , Lee Hughes scored and did that annoying goal celebration but Elder stuck out a leg in a melee of players and it was in the back of the net with seconds remaining. Needless to say we all went f***ing mental in the away section

I remember that very well, still can't quite believe we walked away from that with a point. We were getting throughly raped during the second half.
