8 million? Is he as good as Andre Grey? If so, get him in

I have no wish to make that mistake again, I pissed myself laughing when Burnley forked out 6 million for Grey from Brentford last season.....

You weren't the only one Icy. Plenty of us were the same.

This lad does have something about him. A decent goal return in a relatively poor side. With our service from midfield, out wide and GM I think he could easily notch between 20-25 goals.

Its because of the sucess of someone like Andre Gray that is driving other players prices up. Wells is a good player and good striker but £8m is a lot; however, if he goes to a club and fires them to the Premiership like Gray did for Burnley then it's a drop in the ocean.

Like other posters mention, there are other clubs which are throwing mega bucks are getting to the Premiership. I think we have done things in measured way so far and been relatively sucessful in the transfer market, so I am happy to trust in the recruitment team and whatever they decide to do in this transfer window

I can't believe we'd pay 8 million for him, plenty of value abroad for that money.

Although true, he scored 18 goals in a poor team last season. You know he can do it in this league, you can't say the same about someone from abroad.

£8m sure seems steep, but I thought £9m for Andre Gray was too and he's sorted promotion out for Burnley.

I would not be interested at 4M let alone 8 !

I would. I'd be very interested at 4 million. He scored 17 league goals last year in a poor team. He'd get 20 plus in our team and along with Hemed and Murray would form a potent strike force in this division. One that would have a great shot at getting us out of the division.

Poor team! This is our year...with Herman the German at the helm, a load of new signings , it is all coming together! I predict another dicking of the mighty l***s and top 6 finish!

Yep, I reckon Huddersfield have a good shout of even making as high as 5th.

Big ask to overhaul Albion, Newcastle, Norwich and maybe Derby though.

Wednesday will be there as well. Don't see Huddersfield being up there just because they have a German manager. They don't have the money to compete do they?

They've brought in a few Germans. Depends how good they are, but at least they'll be able to take a penalty ( or not ) ???

Me neither........They obviously don't either or they wouldn't be open to selling their top striker

In all seriousness, I can't see past Newcastle and villa going straight back up, with their respective managers and funds...and the players they have kept! So you then are looking as playoffs and certainly the are some decent sides in our division....if this Chinese guy takes over at Wolves, I can see money being thrown at them.

It will be an interesting season.

Newcastle yes, but why Villa? They were in utter disarray last season. It's going to take more than RDM and Elphick to turn that around.

RDM is no idiot and I can see him having worked out what the issues were last year and how to put them right.

There is always a bounce back when a new manager comes in and especially with his record and contacts, I can see him choosing replacements and enhancements very quickly.

It wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if we see John Terry, his best mate seemly, being involved in some way. Chelsea really kept him on sentiment, and Conti looks like the sort of manager that wants fast fluid football, and Terry is a bit past that nowadays.

BTW did anyone read the rumour circulating that we are after the Swedish guy Marcus Berg...at panathinaikos at the moment ...saw it in a article about Scandinavian football in the guardian. Now that would certainly send out a notice of intent.
