Great signing. Especially as they've already got Vaughan who is one of the best strikers in the division.

Interesting. Leeds were showing a lot of interest. The fact that both Barnes and Wells have gone to smaller clubs over Leeds really does seem to confirm they don't have much cash to play with.

Time to put in a cheeky bid for McCormack perhaps

Vaughan has actually been right off form for a couple of months now, to be fair.

Huddersfield have Vaughan, Paterson and Wells - that's 3 top strikers for this division for a club who's primary aim is to stay up. Maybe a cheeky £2 mil bid for Vaughan may tempt them.

That or some players just have a little bit of class about them.

Much as I hate to big up Leeds, all things being equal in money terms, I suspect if you offered 100 players the choice of Huddersfield or Leeds, the vast majority would pick Leeds every time.

Or if you offered 2 players Leeds, Huddersfield or Burnley, they actually choose Huddersfield or Burnley.

Perhaps Leeds are not such a big draw any more, after years of mediocrity, a terrible chairman, a proportion of a fanbase lower than a Dachshunds transmission, maybe their time as WACCOE is well and truly over.

oh contraire; apparently it is for the following reason according to some poor fans website discussing Wells and Barnes:

"Both strikers have been linked with moves to Elland Road, but perhaps with the new investment they could bring in someone more proven."

You'd have to go some to get more deluded than that after picking up Kebe and Cameron

As a Carlisle fan, it's massively depressing that we had Wells & Paddy Madden on the books 2 years ago when they came over to England & they left for less than 20k in total ( Abbott didn't rate either of them ).... & whilst we are skint & haven't been able to hit the proverbial barn door, they have both scored shed loads & moved for over 1.5M....*sigh* :(

Barnes did not have a choice between Leeds or Burnley. Leeds had no money to offer the Albion, so were never in a position to offer Barnes a deal.

Even sadder/funnier if Leeds didn't have the money to buy Barnes, maybe they thought they could attract him with the lure of the mighty Leeds alone, oh well.
