What sells it to me is that it makes the awarding of points so complicated that nobody would frankly be bothered to complain.

Well certainly your suggestion is complicated:lolol:

However the adoption of some kind of points or loyalty card scheme should be looked at, there are plenty of examples throughout the league and in particular the prem.

But the points should only be awarded for the purchase of match tickets, not for whoever has bought the most mugs in the club shop.

Agree and would not be 2 hard to set up

We used to use Loyalty Points at Leeds but it was an absolute nightmare for the ticket office and has now been scrapped.

It also means you cannot apply with friends and might end up in totally different areas of the ground and things.

It is very difficult, in some ways I feel people that attend home games should have priority for these 'big ties' as they are directly responsible for ploughing money into the club. It is astounding that we can get over 5,000 people going for tickets for this game, but have barely managed to break 5,000 on the home front. BUt then on the flip side, the away days attract a different clientele and I suspect a large proportion of the fans live miles away from Sussex meaning that it is extremely difficult to get to home games.

SHould you get priority if you go to the previous rounds of that particular cup?

THere is no perfect solution - it would be interesting to see how other clubs operate.

I think a system is a good idea, and a practical one ought not be that complicated. I really think it should be one game = one point, whether home or away.

I disagree with others that away games should be worth more. Its home attendance that fills the coffers.

As for Adrie's idea that STHs get more points for each game than me, who attends practically every one with a 170 mile round trip, he can shove it. I would have no problem with STHs getting a modest bonus - let's say 5pts for the season.

Why not make it simple, one point for every match ticket bought from the club, home, away, season tix or one game at a time, what's the difference? If you buy more tickets and support both at home and away AND get your application in on time, then the most deserving fans would get tickets. Wouldn't they?

Jere's a good one, why doesn't everyone just get a grip and stop moaning?

Let's take six games at randon - Reading the year we won League 1, Swindon in the playoffs, Spurs away, the playoff final, Aldershot in the cup and West Ham away.

If you applied properly for all those you'd be pretty unlucky not to get tickets to at least half of them (of course you could hit the jackpot and go to them all).

The next game is always the biggest - if we could see the future and say we'd get to the playoffs again, would people who missed West Ham be happy to know that the law of averages says you'd be likely to get one for the playoff game. I'd imagine they would.

The siuation is blurred a bit by Withdean, if some day we get Falmer and are pulling 12,000 every week (possible in a good season) then competition will really hot up for tickets to big away games but conversely, because we'll actually have a real ground to enjoy our football at.

This is the best solution with the number of points reset to zero every season. If there is a big game and a large number of applicants means an oversubscription you could take into account the final points total from the previous season as well, this would at least stop the fair weather fans getting a look in. A considerable number of Albion fans live in exile and are unable to get to home games but manage to follow the team when they are up north , so by giving extra points for away games according to distance is unworkable as a round trip from Brighton of over 400 miles can only be 40 miles for northern Seagulls.

I think the best looking people should get priority, some of you lot give the club a bad name. :jester:

A points system is a bad idea IMO. If you couldn't afford to goto lots of games, then it could restrict the games you could goto.

Just get your application in soon enough and you don't miss out. It's been said so many times before

But with a points system , if you are strapped for cash and only go to the odd game home or away each season you will get priority over those fans who only turn up for the mega games. With a system where applications are dealt with on a strictly received (allegedly) date basis, mistakes are bound to happen , whereas with points the club can set a closing date for applications and then sort out applications by priority.

any system of this sort will impose costs on the club to
a) implement a new system
b) promote it
c) train staff in its use
d) maintain it

when you consider that it is effecitvely implemented for the benefit of a few hundred loyal fans who missed out on a once in a few years type match is it really worth it?

dont get me wrong, id be gutted if i hadnt bagged a ticket for west ham but could i have expected the club to start implementing a membership card system - no.

basically, i think the choice of ticket stub was a poor one and that was really the only flaw in the ticketing for this match.

The ticketing software that the club use should have these facilities already built in. A history of ticket purchases must be available at the click of a button or two.

All i've read since the West Ham tickets went on sale was, me, me, me, me, me. It is a known fact if you make a real effort you'll get a ticket. So there is no need to alienate fans who aren't so well off and have to choose their games more than others. We only get a game like this once a season at the most.

My beef is that about 1000 or more people who didnt bother to turn up to the two previous home fa cup games have got a ticket where as some people who did have not.

In the pub last night talking to freinds 2 of them new people who had'nt been to watch the albion since cardiff and have tickets for whu away. How can that be right? They were hardly inticed to watch albion in the championship after cardiff!

Speaking to supporter of other clubs they could'nt belive that STH were not given the first 3 days or so to get tickets first and then the remainder to AMS and then general sale obviously those clubs understand loyalty and reward it.

The system is flawed, and only winds people up, not everybody is able to get their applications in on the day announced due to work and where they live.

I would be happy with a points system but think it could be much simpler than that as stated above.

And some fans refuse to watch the Albion at the Withdean. Should these fans then be banned from watching away games too?

No Im not saying anyone should be banned but you should always put your best customers first then open it out to everyone else.

Its not about being snobby, in business you give your best customers bigger discounts its realy not rocket science you reward your best customers.

If people refuse to go to withdean well thats pathetic they obviously dont support the club like others, I hate withdean getting wet sitting miles from the pitch with no atmosphere but I go! If everyone just could'nt be bothered because they dont like withdean we would'nt have a club to support.

I certainly dont want a medal or think im some sort of uber fan but I would expect the club to value supportters like me and others better than they do.

People seem to forget the club isn't in any position to treat fans differently. It's also pathetic if someone wants to turn their back on the club just because they had to get their ass into gear, and didn't get hand delivered a ticket.

EVERYONE knows the ticket policy. Those that apply quickly get a ticket, those that don't take their chances. The system isn't unfair to ANY fan. STH currently get 50% of the tickets, and thats more than enough for 99% of games. I don't recall any STH moaning they couldn't get a ticket at Port Vale.

No they were'nt moaning about PV tickets just a shame the 2500 set a side for AMS WHU tickets did'nt go, would have been nice to see them all there.

And I bet most of the 250 at PV were season ticket holders.
