Murray had a poor first half but I think it might have been predetermined he'd make way in the second half. I'd rather have him fit and firing for Colchester and Hudds.

Thought he was poor today, which is surprising, as he has been vastly improved recently, freed from Forster (a controversial view, but I think all the hoo-hah round Forster was dragging Murray down), but he didn't seem particularly interested to me today. Not a reason to give him a slating, which I am not, but certainly not his best game.

Murray and Barnes are not going to get us promoted. Murray is just not consistent enough. He spends too much time in the wrong areas of the pitch and not enough times in goalscoring postions. Barnes needs a rest, confidence has gone in front of goal and clearly did'nt want the pen today.

From the Arsgas site.... "Poyet confirmed an out-of-sorts Glenn Murray was substituted at half-time for tactical reasons."

I guess I'd have to question why the out-of-sorts Barnes was allowed to stay on, unless the rumours of a rift between Gus & Muzza are true.

The Barnes/Murray partnership does not appear to be working, with Murray being the one sub'd or dropped.

Thoughts?

Then having Sandaza, Barnes, Hart and Baz will not see us finish above mid table.

Murray is one of the most intelligent and gifted players we have had the privilege of watching in YEARS. Brighton fans who think otherwise are obviously idiots.

This.

Murray is a HUGE player for us. Huge. He absolutely infuriates me at times, but his all-round game is a cut above anything we have had since Bobby (with the notable exception of Nicky Forster). He would be virtually impossible to replace. Barnes is decent, and has promise, but wouldn't get near the first team of many of the teams below us in the league. In January, we need to be looking for a partner for Murray.... not a replacement.

How many more times? He's going NOWHERE!

Barrel of Fun

Abort, retry, fail
He kept falling over/getting clattered. Maybe Gus didn't want to risk him getting injured?

Gus' latest comment on saying he would be the best striker in the league, if he were consistent, seems to be telling him to earn his keep, or at least, earn his demands of his new contract.

How many more times? He's going NOWHERE!

You seem confident. Has he signed a new contract? Are you privvy to inside information as to what his plans are?

Must admit would have preferred Barnes being subbed than Murray, but both were pretty dire today. We know Barnes and Murray does'nt work together. Would have liked to have seen Murray and Sandaza. For me Murray and Barnes play too deep and if you are not in the box as astriker you dont score. Sandaza at least got into sroring positions in the box

I don't get all the Over the top Murray statements.......he is only a brilliant player when he bothers to turn up because when he doesn't he is a waste of space. Fact. The most intelligent player we have had in yrs? Well maybe, but he cannot seem to knock more than 20 in season though can he.

Perhaps he's not getting in the goalscoring positions too often because that's Barnes' role and Murray is there to use his footballing guile to open up defences and help provide the chances for Barnes? If Barnes had converted around 50% of his chances (& I'm not including half-chances) he'd be on at least 20 goals so far this season, a lot of these would have had Murray as providing the assists.
