MUFC and their current plight

I have been quite interested in the last few days over the actions by Shareholders United and given their membership is around 15,000 they are causing quite a few problems already.

Latest actions have been against Brunswick, Glazers advisers including the following:

The arrival of a 200 person buffet at their offices and numerous deliveries of pizzas, a skip, plubers, sandwiches and taxis. So much so that Brunswick has supended it's website as their servers crashed with spam mailing.

You may well hate the club but their fans are certainly not accepting this buffoon Glazer as a potential owner as they realise the dire consequences.

Keep up the good work.

If you float on the Stock Exchange - with all the benefits that brings in terms of cash into the club - you have to accept that someone may want to buy a majority shareholding. They can't have it both ways.

If they wanted to protest they should have protested at becoming a plc.

I have to say it...

Good on you Manure fans.

NB: I have no problem with Manure fans. I have a problem with the thousands whol walk round in their shirts buying merchandise and gloating when they win but have never been to a game or even lived anywhere near Manchester.

That is a very valid point however the current idiot is hoping to finance the deal on future revenue that is a con.

Had MUFC never floted they would never have been in the position they are now - I have no issue with that.

If I recall correctly, they did ... ?

And wasn't there some kind of kerfuffle soon afterwards with Sky trying to buy a large shareholding?

Sky tried to take them over but the Supporters Trust got it referred to the monopoly and mergers and the deal was chucked out.

Are we really supposed to feel sorry for ManUre plc? Seriously?

Their fans couldn't give 2 f**ks about us (and teams/clubs like us) and the crap we're going through-plus the club itself is everything I despise about the Premiershite.

I personally can't wait for their bubble to burst.

Totally agree. If things go tits up and we pass them on their way down to the Championship, I won't be losing any sleep over it.

To be fair they did. Not alot you can do about it though really is there.

Then when news broke of a Sky take over a few years ago they established the Shareholders United group, in order to prevent the club being taken private (if there's a 10% free float of the company sahre capital the club cant be taken private). Which is a bit counter intuitve but the idea is that since you cant reverse the share listing at least you can ensure the owners cant fcuk you and have to keep the business dealings in the open.

But do i feel sorry for them? No. Plight? like you say, they've enjoyed the benefits. However im am slightly concerned with whats behind htis move by Glazer, as things stand right now Man U plc is not worth buying - for the profit you'd be better off sticking your £800m in the bank. What is afoot in football that he thinks is about to change?

Convenient for that fan-base around Gatwick airport. :)

I agree with Lush's original point; it's no good protesting about it now. They should have done when the club went public. There may have been some protests at the time but large numbers of fans eagerly snapped up shares and there was no attempt at a boycott of merchandise - far from it.

It's gross hypocrisy to reap the benefits of being a public company and then moan when someone unsavoury looks to buy a controlling interest.

If the supporters paid for all of the stuff they sent then fine as I imagine Brunswick's refused delivery of everything and therefore didn't pay.

The real losers in this are the businesses being given bogus orders. A 200 person buffet isn't cheap and the company who provided it could be seriously out of pocket.

I think they need a bit more imagination
