Just watched the press conference, what these seven MPs have said is going to hit some nerves out there. Millions DO feel politically homeless at the moment. Politics DOES feel like it is broken. The government is shambolic, but Corbyn's Labour has failed to fully exploit that discontent, notably with policy of appeasement on a Brexit which will adversely affect so many Labour voters, and all the anti-semitism headlines, even if there has been a lot of conflation of genuine anti-semitism - which is abhorrent and clearly needs rooting out wherever in the world it occurs - and fair criticism of aspects of Israel's domestic and foreign policy.
Whether this new group will gain any real traction, I have my doubts. There is an obvious deal to be done with the Lib Dems. Maybe they can work with the SNP in a way Labour have not. There are no real heavyweights as there were with the SDP, even if Chuka looks leadership material. You wonder if any of them would be re-elected on an independent ticket in the next General Election, or a bye-election if forced.
The worst thing that could happen is that this basically ensures a Tory govt pretty much in perpetuity, and with in addition the boundary changes plus the rise of the SNP, that could well be the outcome.

I'm very proud of these 7 MP's. Hopefully more will join them. Labour used to be a decent left leaning party that was tolerant and open minded. Under Corbyn it has been highjacked by the extreme left who use bullying and intimidation to try to force the policy and results they want.
Out of about 20 of my close friends 14 had previously voted Labour all their life, all but 2 have said they can not in all good conscience continue to vote for Corbyn with what they now know about him.
This country needs a viable left leaning political party to challenge the Conservatives but it needs to appeal to moderate voters not just hard core socialists and daft students.
I hope other Mps from both sides join them so we can build a new political party that is truly working in everyone's interests with clearly some give and take on both sides.

I don't see the point of this. Political suicide for them surely? What are they going to achieve from this? If they set up a new party with their policies I could understand it better but otherwise what is the purpose? It won't bring Corbyn down because his party membership heavily supports him so what is the end goal that they are trying to achieve?

Anything that will get rid of Corbyn is a good thing.
The man has done nothing in opposition; he presents no real vision of what a post-Brexit Britain will look like, not has he stood up and said we should stay in the EU.

There won’t be, but that doesn’t mean that there shouldn’t be.
The splitters know their seats would be at risk if they did.
As much as young people reaching voting age are likely to be naive enough to swallow Corbyn bribes, just as many are reaching their mid 30’s and realising that idealism does not pay the bills. The UK has an ageing population, in the long term Labour are fxxked.
