Moving to Eastbourne ..Advice please

It all depends on your budget, though, and what sort of house you want.
Are schools or pubs important ?
Give us some ideas of those and we'll be better placed to advise.

As a rough guide though, avoid Langney, shinewater, parts of hampden park, anywhere east of lottbridge drove. Meads is nice, but snobby and expensive. Old town has character.

Schools and pubs not an issue but a bus route into town is as my missus needs to get a bus into Brighton for work
Up to £150k really as I have looked at a few places down there and that should cover it

I've lived here for nearly 20 years (apart from 3 years in Devon) and I can't really argue with any of that but in it's favour, it's reasonably priced (when compared to Brighton or Lewes), crime isn't bad, and it is quite peaceful.
I'd move back to Brighton in an instant though...

Just not for me! brighton, hove and shoreham I'd move..

Just to make things worse in eastbourne, I have to take my pregnant wife to Brighton hospital because eastbourne maternity ward is closed down!!

Well it's true there's maybe less porn on view, but its actually quite a nice place. But much depends on your age, its not as dynamic as Brighton. Also how much of a budget will dominate your choice. Both 'Happypig' and 'Lord B' give sound advice. Willingdon/Ratton are other nice on the periphery places but more painful on the pocket. And the Marina is nice too, and not too pricey.... Won't lose you to Eastbourne Borough will we?

Also run the Blues Away Supporters Club coaches from Eastbourne, so travel is no problem as I always seem to get booked on it

This! But would need budget info and roughly what looking for to help more (bungalow, house, flat 2-3-4 etc. bed, downstairs proper bathroom needed, off-road parking). Health issues? What health issues are different in Brighton than Eastbourne (if you don't mind the question)

That was a choice that many women made, even when the DGH in Eastbourne ran a full maternity service.

Forget Old Town then. Langney Point would be best, plenty of Bungalows, local shops and near the sea.

I like Seaford, you can drive through it if you get bored of the A27 between Brighton and Eastbourne.

this we find it quiet, good buses, good shops
will say we went into Eastbourne yesterday afternoon and it was heaving, students, wrinkly's and the world and its auntie it did sort of remind a bit of Brighton a few decades ago.

Had a look at a couple of houses today, one in Hampden Park and one in Langney, the houses were really nice but a bit worried looking at the replies on this thread, it looks like these are two of the areas to avoid, even more confused now

Some arts of Hampden park are nice, and some parts of Langney are too. There's some housing estates in both areas that aren't as nice. A close friend was brought up in Hampden Park and loves it. My ex lives in Langney and has no issues in his area either.
