My favourites so far:

In the tunnel with mascots before the match.

"Beckham showing the fatherly touch"

Prior to a free-kick with England 4-0 up.

"There's nothing surer in this game than a goal from David Beckham set piece"

And my personal favourite:

"All the talk of Owen chasing the England goalscoring record, I'd like to have a look at David Beckham's England assist record"

What is it with this name?

We have a whole generation of young people who seem to be unaware that the correct pronunciation is Air-on.

Mind you ... I knew a yank called Gerald. He pronounced it with a hard G, as in Garden.

Personally, just going back a few years I prefer the term "double A Ron"

Don't start!

And your complaining because of the name Aaron?

I bet none of you have used the correct term for Adrie. Actually, come to think of it I don't too:lolol:

Most people call me Audrey, but going back to my primary school days there were a lot worse.

Addrey
Adrian
Andy
Addrei
Audrey
Archie
Argery
Agrie
Aurdri
Arj
Arg
Adrie

Apparently the correct term is A-drey

But I prefer the term Are-drey, but I seem to have adapted enough to Audrey.

EDIT: Also, in my Year 8 days, someone who found my name very arrousing nicknamed me Orgasm:lolol:

Beckham was fantastic though.

Don't get me wrong this is not an anti-Beckham thread.

The point I am making is Motson's constant need to praise Beckham, for even the most basic or issues unrelated to football borders on ridiculous.

The one thing I noticed in the tunnel was Paul Robinson spit into his gloves, rub it in and then hold hands with some poor mascot all the way to the halfway line. :lolol:

My grandma is called Audrey and I wanted to call my new baby Audrey but you have ruined that name for us. So, thanks ;-)

And Lennon pronounces his own name the way Motson does. Callum is in school with a boy whose name is Aaron but pronounced ah-on. Kinda like Mahon.

Only in this years cup final,Motty was saying Liverpool were down to ten man, with Gerrard carrying a knock, that was just before S/G made it 3-3 with that 35 yard piledriver. Nice one Motty. :albion:
