I have an old Leyland Sherpa Campervan, my pride and joy, the fuel gauge has suddenly gone way past the full mark and I am told that it is probably due to the lead shorting out to earth.

How do I go about trying to find out where and would it be in the loom? Any advice would be appreciated as I hate driving a motor where the fuel gauge doesnt work properly especially one that is not used regularly so dont want to leave it full of fuel.

I havent looked but am assuming that it hasnt just fallen off. It happened last night late so will look later this morning, when it is not raining or the ground is wet.

It might be the sender unit in the tank, rather than the termination come off its only a resistor , may have gone open circuit or closed circuit, easy way it s easy fix.
