I thought it was one of, if not the best analysis of us I've seen in a long time.

Yes it was a draw with City but the analysis was almost all about how good we were rather than how bad Citeh were which lead to the draw.

One of my pet hates has been that our result was due to how crap the other (usually top 6) team were. Not this time.

I have yet to watch this, but I did see/listento Paul Merson on Sky. It’s a wonder he is allowed anywhere near a broadcasting studio. Do they employ him out of sympathy? He’s appallingly bad.

I suspect he was hired as one of the boys and now they can’t get rid of him out of sympathy.

Agree with OP here, really good analysis on us and they seem to finally realise we’re in the battle.

He makes people annoyed. Good for viewership.

Watching Gillette soccer Saturday he was totally incoherent when doing the in game match reports. I'm afraid time has caught up with him.
Not only that but he doesn't even make the most basic attempt to pronounce people's names properly. He just mangles them deliberately like it's all a big laugh.

Names are an important part of our identify and it's basic human decency to learn how to pronounce them....granted, there are always some that will be difficult for a native English speaker just like some of our names will be problematic to Spanish or German speakers, but at least make an effort.

Merson can't even be arsed to try, and just chuckles it off because you know what, it's only forrin names innit.

I do wonder if they're terrified that if they let him go and he reverts to his days of gambling and drinking they'll get the blame for it

If you look back at yesterday's soccer coverage yesterday and slow it down, you can see the above sublimely when he's talking about our game

I’m now questioning my own pronunciation of Kaoru Mitoma
I seem to pronounce it differently to Guy Mowbray, who says “Kay-or-roo”
Whereas I’ve always believed to be “Kaw-ru”

Dyslexic Merson is still better than the tick box they would replace him with

He does have some good banter
Banter…that’s really all you need to know. Sack him now.

And that's why I gave up on MOTD years ago.

Just saying we spotted a City weakness because there two wingers were in full Mr Tumble mode and not tracking back, leaving space behind their full backs isn't really difficult to spot. Nothing about the balance between the high and low block, keeping Haaland quite apart from the penalty......

And to think that the BBC are considering expanding the analysis, if they do that they will need to up their game.

Yes, this has me worried too. Obviously the analysis bit is cheaper to televise. To be honest, I don’t need the analysis - most of it is about bias and opinions. It could be the beginning of the end for MOTD.

I’d rather have someone who knew what they were talking about rather than someone who is simply there because they’re a white man

That's pretty much what I said to my Mrs after we'd watched it - it made a change.
