Well London road does have its benefits for a wedding reception, you have untold charity shops to purchase a delightful wedding gift for the happy couple. That's if the alcoholics and junkies don't relieve you of said gift in the meantime.

Ex manager of The Hydrant, Speaks out against the venue.

"I would like to thank everyone in around The Hydrant for the support I've received since being wrongfully dismissed. I would also like to take the time to enlighten people about the current owners/managers of the venue and their absolute disgusting approach to "running" the business and how they have mistreated, discriminated, bullied, patronized and offended the vast majority of the staff. In the last three weeks alone they have wrongfully dismissed myself from my position as manager, wrongfully dismissed two other members of staff as well as thrown one of them out of their own home and denied them access to the accommodation, they have mistreated promoters and refused them fees that were prearranged before they had anything to do with the business and all of this was done with no real reasoning, compassion or respectful approach to any of the above situations. For anyone who attended any of the gigs at The Hydrant over the weekend, I would like to take this time to empathise on behalf of all current and recent members of staff for the hideous happenings and behavior of the current person in charge and running of the venue.
Furthermore, I would like to highlight a matter of discrimination that in current times is most certainly uncalled for and in my own personal opinion absolutely disgusting. Since being dismissed I have been informed of several homophobic comments that have been made by the current owners/management, not about myself personally but comments that indicate the real reasoning behind myself and another member of staff dismissal. In this day and age and in one of the most liberal cities in Britain, I find it extremely hard to comprehend any sort of discriminative attitude or behavior towards anyone yet along within a place of employment.
Finally I would like to thank everyone that I have employed, worked or conversed with in time I was in charge. Although it was short lived, it was an absolute pleasure to get to know you all.

Please feel free repost this as I strongly believe that people should be informed about all of the above before thinking about dealing with these people."

Meteors has switched to the Haunt. Any Punker Bunker gigs booked at the Hydrant, Buz has switched to either the Haunt or Prince Albert if they were available the same night. The ones where neither was available have been cancelled. Don't know about the psychobilly festival.

A wedding venue though, I can't get over it. Almost as bad as hearing someone profess to London road being Brighton's version of Shoreditch. You couldn't make it up. If you want to see a pub that has made a success of a similar venue take a look at the Hobgoblin just along the road.

The last time I saw the Meteors in Brighton was at The Old Vic , but I can't beleive that was the last time they played here . I remember bravely running in amongst the wrecking crew for Purple Haze , shutting my eyes and running out again when they finished playing it. Shall try and catch them at the Haunt.Hopefuly Chelsea is still on as well.

Am I going senile ? I am absolutly convinced they covered Purple Haze . Maybe I'm getting confused with Snuff , and I ducked and dived through Get off of my cloud instead . Only have the first album and saw them a lot in the eighties , so my memory is a bit misty. .....................Could have sworn it though.

The latter as far as I can make out. Although to be fair Lauren whose open letter was posted earlier in this thread was the General Manager rather than casual staff which imho lends more credibility to her claims.

Hmmm. Need to be really careful with stuff like that. Could well end up in a tribunal, but without any evidence to back up their claims, the previous employees would most likely struggle to put forward a case.
