I am not religious but this hymn brings tears to my eyes when thinking of our fallen heroes and our country .as it once was .
I Vow To Thee My Country Hymn

I vow to thee, my country, all earthly things above,
Entire and whole and perfect, the service of my love:
The love that asks no question, the love that stands the test,
That lays upon the altar the dearest and the best;
The love that never falters, the love that pays the price,
The love that makes undaunted the final sacrifice.

And there's another country, I've heard of long ago,
Most dear to them that love her, most great to them that know;
We may not count her armies, we may not see her King;
Her fortress is a faithful heart, her pride is suffering;
And soul by soul and silently her shining bounds increase,
And her ways are ways of gentleness and all her paths are peace.

Never seen that before thanks for posting. Beautifully sad, a nation paying its respects to the greatest Briton of them all.

Going to dive in to UK Hip-Hop for a few emotional songs. A genre you might not expect it from, but there's actually a fairly decent selection so;

George The Poet - Accidents: Taken from an EP based around pregnancy and childbirth. This song focuses on miscarriages and abortion whilst also delving in to other topics too. It's the sort of thing that could go terribly but GtP knocks it out the park.

dan le sac v Scroobius Pip - You Will See Me: There aren't many people who can come close to Scroobius Pip, and this is probably one of his most emotionally fuelled songs.

Mikill Pane ft Ed Sheeran - Little Lady Yeah ok, it's Ed Sheeran, the blandest man in pop BUT this song is something special. It's actually a version of A-Team but with a much harder hitting lyrics telling the story of someone being forced in to prostitution by their uncle. One of the hardest gutpunches I've heard too.

Scroob is, as you say, pretty untouchable. These two never fail to get me:

Lovely, very moving! But if my ears weren't deceiving me, I do believe they sang "Oh, we're going up and we'll win the cup..". We need to stamp out these nonsense lyrics once and for all.

This performance from Kelly Clarkson gets me every time. The song is written from the real life experience of her dad walking out on them. She barely makes it through the performance and Keith Urban is a wreck.

The Soft Machine say goodbye to the idealism of the 1960's in a 13 minute epic at the BBC.

First heard this on a long deleted Softs Compilation Album (Triple Echo) in 1976.

Still can't listen to Robert Wyatt singing this without breaking up - his final ever vocal for the band - I shan't say one more word, so instead I'll play drums
