God all the money types are turning into Vulture/Algie with their rumour hunting about bust banks, it's brilliant.
Forget signings, who is going belly up next?
Or the Albion

or you
I'd love to be a 'money type', but sadly I haemorrhage cash on a daily basis without the need for a credit crunch

I know you aren't really, it was a lazy grouping and a bit of a parody.
You're a south Londoner so you're all good in my book
Steady!
I'm guessing no joy in selling your house then...
Actually, there is a bit of joy. But I don't want to tempt fate. We accepted a low offer, but probably about what the house was worth in current market, £165,500 - a hefty whack off the £200,000 it was originally put on the market for.
But most of the 'sold' signs around here revert to 'for sale' within a month, so we're not counting our chickens yet. The buyers had their survey done last week, so we're praying they don't start taking the piss. We can't really go any lower. Still, they're buy-to-letters, with 50% deposit, so we're hoping it'll all go through ok.
Plan is to rent for a while, then see what's what. We've got an interest-only mortgage atm, so rent will be pretty much the same thing.
Which area are you planning to rent in?
I'm sure the market in your area will ROCKET when the DLR extension is finished .
Tell me about it. Think the promise of the DLR helped push prices up until the current crash, but it remains to be seen whether they'll soar when it's finished in early 2009. Knowing our luck they will The station's nearly finished now, so it won't be long until it's ready.
We're planning to stay in SE18, know the area, reasonable rents compared to rest of London and junior's already in a nursery here, so would be shame to totally up-root him. Then again, we are looking elsewhere too, just in case.
I've heard the link is completely on schedule to open in February 2009, as it is all finished and they are running test trains now, so if it gets to November, perhaps hold tight for a few months?
Is SE18 a nice area? I might have to move "around" there next year as a friend of mine is doing a course at Ravensbourne and I couldn't take being that far out of London but general SE is probably our best bet.
