Three police officers have been shot dead in the US city of Baton Rouge and five others injured, US media reports say.

A police spokesman said the scene had been "contained". It was not clear if any suspects have been detained.

Reports say a lone gunman opened fire with an assault rifle.

It follows the recent killing of a black man by police in the city. That, and a police shooting in Minnesota, led to protests across the US.

The killings triggered a revenge attack by a black army veteran who shot dead five officers in the city of Dallas.

Baton Rouge police have warned residents to stay away from the scene of the latest shooting, which was near police headquarters and Airline Highway.

Footage shown on a local TV channel, filmed on a mobile phone, showed police cars arriving at a road intersection. Several shots were then heard.

Baton Rouge mayor Kip Holden said he had spoken to White House officials in Washington, who had offered assistance. He said it was "a defining moment" for community relations.

Now 3 dead and 4 injured.

The shootings in the States is becoming like the Wild West. you would have thought that in that time society would have moved on, it appears not in the land of the gun.

Young angry black men shooting at police again. Seems it is almost half expected because gun culture is so engrained in some black culture. Totally unacceptable as it would be if a angry white man was the shooter

Notice Hillian don't need to be rude to make a point. Probably something to do with education.

West is BEST
I read an editorial in Time some time ago by a music executive who claims he attended a meeting in early 1991 also attended by representatives of the Industrial Private Prison complex. Private prisons had just been de-regulated and were being built all over North America. The representatives of the private prison system approached his music company to sign and heavily promote a number of black rap artists who used violent lyrics, promoted gun culture and focused on the accruing of wealth at any cost, including others lives. They said they wanted a music company to really push this agenda and they would pay expenses and costs to make it happen.
This particular music company refused, a few others took them up on the offer. Allegedly.

Wonder if all those dicks who turned out on the streets over there (and ever so cringe worthy embarrassingly over here) who are trying to turn every single shooting of a black person, even if justified, into a political issue and must automatically be racist will turn out again at the racially motivated killing of three human beings?..or is only a case of 'Black lives only matter and only cause outrage and offence when killed'!
W@nkers the lot of them!

Black lives matter,

But they only matter if taken by a policeman, the black lives taken by other blacks, EVERY day we don't want to talk about.

Probably see a ban for that, but needs saying.
