I know that, but we have conceded a lot of late goals from defending too deeply, particularly at home. We could have the best defensive record if our centre backs were quicker.

I agree, but some of that is down to our negative subs we make, we encourage the oppo to come at us as we set up defensive. Also when under it, we still try and play football out of our own box instead of putting the gold old fashioned sixe 9 through it like Utd did yesterday at home to Liverpool.

Other players have suffered a step up in divisions Painter, Navarro & Sparrow all very liked Albion players who did a great job for the club but not in the championship , I feel others could suffer the same fate if we went up another tier like I said El Abd maybe Greer Maybe Calderon all great players but might struggle at a higher level I hope not and hope I'm proved wrong because all good lads

I'd say 5 or 6 might be good enough.

As a team we are a million miles from the prem. We could go up via the play-offs as we can offer the odd great performance but over a whole season?
If we did, take the money, prepare for a little humiliation on occasion, and use the dosh to create depth and quality by bringing in some younger premier cast-offs as well as a couple with experience to develop and prepare the squad.
Gus will also need time to adapt and our back room staff would need to be improved. We have the support (Although fickle and at times delusional), the ground, soon to be training facilities and the ambition. Just need a dose of reality and good sense to make it happen.

Thats about it as far as I'm concerned. We'd need a massive influx of new players if we do go up and want to compete. Saying that I wouldnt mind if we gave it our best shot with just a few additions and secure the finacial future of the club.

Indeed. If we did gain a Premiership place with the current squad, a mass cull and purchase exercise would be essential unless the board are willing to entertain an immediate return to the Championship!
