Happened in a number of places already. Will eventually become the norm I think.

Would rather they spent the money on putting in a proper cycle lane from Woddingdean down to the stadium. This is needed more. I think a lot of people would support this.

On the subject of cycle lanes, I actually saw a cyclist using the Old Shoreham Road one the other day. Remarkable.

does everyone realise how hard is to drive at 20mph around a city? this takes supreme concentration and constant looking at the dash instead of the road.

pure nonsense. buy some spray for the reg plates so the cameras cant get it and carry on as normal, and also black spray the $$ collecting cameras.....simple.

How on earth is it any different from trying to stay at 30?

If you have trouble keeping to 20 mph then may I respectfully suggest that driving's not for you.

Portsmouth was the first city to try this out. They had something like 700 pedestrian accidents involving motor vehicles a year and went down to 30 something when 20mph was introduced. I cannot remember the exact figures but it was told to me when I went on a speed awareness course! Every City/Town will have this, so get on your bicycle, walk or bus.:)

I went on one of those too, very powerful messages put across about speed awareness

This was put out on television some time ago but pulled as too many people thought it was too graphic.

The 20 zones work well in Wolverhampton. Also it means that people tend to stay out of the City Centre and use the ring road, which is 40mph (rather than taking a direct route through the city).

I tend to think it can work quite well.
