Good stuff.

Ireland can count themselves lucky that someone (and a good someone at that) bothers to sign their best talents.

Seriously - Ireland's best talents - Moran and Ferguson are very talented players no doubt - but they are in the squad because the likes of Parrott, Idah, Coventry, Collins, Omobamidele and Knight are in the senior squad. It is even a debatable question that they are the 'best talents' in the U21 squad.

Sure sure, everyone is the new Gary Doherty etc. Still happy for Moran and Ferguson though.

Zachary Elbouzedi looks interesting btw. Should not be that far from the Ireland squad.

To be clear - I think Moran and Ferguson are good talents - and still very young. The point I was making is that there is a lot of very talented players in the Irish underage set-up at the moment. How many of them will progress to being quality senior players is a different matter - but thinks are looking more promising for the Irish international team than at any time over the past 20 years.

There are a couple of players knocking on the door - Elbouzedi is one - Gavin Kilkenny at Bournemouth is another and possibly Ryan Johansson of Seville (but currently on loan at Fortuna Sittard).

Following Ferguson sub appearance and debut for the u21s last week he starts today. Hopefully Moran will come on for his debut from the bench today.

Now there's those two lads in Cork who took up Gaelic and the Hurling fella from Kildare, they would all be ahead of Ferguson of course. He's doing well, but still nowhere near the front of the queue.

Moran comes on for his debut in 67th minute and Ireland score their first 3 minutes later :)

One might also report it as "Ferguson is replaced in 67th minute and his replacement scores Ireland's first 3 minutes later"...

...but that would be a bit harsh on the 16yo replaced by a 21yo!
