Anyone from NSC been? Am thinking of spending a week there in July with my partner and our daughter. Any recommendations on how to get the best out of a holiday there? Quaint towns, decent beaches not to be missed and places to avoid etc .....

Was just chatting with someone from there the other day, and mentioned that I'd heard good things about the place.
It has the most southerly fjord in Europe, and many kilometers of nice coastline, with beaches. It doesn't sound like there's much not to like, from what they were telling me.

I'm asking an old housemate from Serbia (when they used to be in the same state), so I'll see what he comes back with.

Haven't been but it is right at the top of my list as the next place to go. I think they've recently started direct flights there from Gatwick as well. It's supposed to be superb, I have a mate who goes to Kotor a lot and raves about it.

Went there for the England game the other month. Cracking place!

We drove down from Debrovnik which is well worth doing as the coast line is amazing all the way down. Just make sure you aren't in a hurry as the border crossing was painful. We stayed in Budva which is a probably their most touristy place however it's not full of Irish pubs and kiss me quick hats.

We got a bus through the mountains to the game in Podgorica which to be honest wasn't that great but it was kinda what I you'd expect from a capital city in that part of the world.

On the whole locals were friendly, beer wasn't too expensive (about £2 a pint if I recall) and the grub was again very typical for that part of the world (allot of meat!). Was still shorts and T shirt weather in October all though the place was just about shutting down for the winter. You could see that it was starting to develop with quite a bit of building going on so I can see it becoming as popular as Croatia seems to be these days.

I was there around 10 years ago, so things might have changed a bit. We stayed in Budva which is an old walled city. The beaches were great and the water is crystal clear. The seafood was top quality if you found the right place to go - restaurant food is far better than hotel food. Back then there were some pretty poor hotels which were used for trade union worker holidays, serving school dinner-type meals. On the other hand, I'm sure things have picked up since then. If you have the cash, the definite place to stay is on the hotel-island of Sveti Stefan. Croatia is right next door, so a day trip to Dubrovnik is a must if you have not already been there. Just try to avoid the days the cruise ships arrive if you can.

Went 2 and a half years ago for a day.

You can do day trips to Croatia from there too.

Wouldn't spend all your time in Montenegro.

I hired a cab for the day from Dubrovnik and the driver took us around. What i saw in that time alone was enough for me to crave seeing more.

We did Peralst (I think) and on to Kotor....it's absolutely stunning. I also know people that rave about Budvar. You

Friendly. amazing scenery, architectyre and beautiful blue water. - you simply won't be able to put your camera down.

Went for a day trip - beautiful and historic, but too many Russian meatheads.
