Was just wondering why we seem to be "splashing the cash" with so many players - yes i know these players are loans and frees but the wages are high (even with derby paying some of savages wage) - why have we not had the money in the past? or does it just depend on who the manager is?

How come you know the wages are so high?

If a manager looks like he is trusted to use somebody elses money more wisely then yes? Or maybe the money was there and Dean decided he was happy with what he had?

All in all i really don't mind as the board is too clever to overspend beyond the clubs means. And hopefully these extra players will get us up into the top 6 and rake in a few quid from 3 decent cup runs!!

We are on the up at last!!

What, like the £300,000 Wilkins had?

Yes glenn did cost £300,00 but there was quite a few sold to cover that in january - just seems that a few years ago the club were running alive and kicking appeal so fans could try and give club money and now we seem to be able to fork out for championship players wages - it just seems to me cash is there when it suits some people at the club

I would suggest that Dean had a fairly generous budget, but perhaps the board have re-evalued the situation and feel we need to pull out all stops to reach the Championship? I think it is probably a case of League One lethargy as this is now our third season in a row.

However, the cynic would suggest that the board are getting a little bit nervous of our (relatively) meagre points tally and know that we must improve on our previous position to be devoid of criticism.

We did not have planning permission then and the plans of the stadium were far from being 'afoot'.

So, BHA board doesn't spend very much money on players; result? bhadeb complains.

Suddenly, BHA board starts spending money on players; result? bhadeb complains.

I think this spending money on all these new footballers is discusting.

People just won't be satisfied unless they're having a moan will they.

Knight doesn't open his wallet up, he's accussed of being tight and the rest of it. Then we're trying to go forward and be positive getting the signings and loan players in to strengthen the squad and ultimately help push us to promotion, and it's still wrong!

Things change and no-body knows what happens within the club in terms of finances, the board know what they're doing so don't you worry about the cash flow.

I think that it is case of needs must. We have permission for the new stadium, we will not fill it if in div 1 and the banks know that so obtaining the money to build it may be difficult. The board have therefore decided to make the money available to help achieve promotion and thus get the backing to build Falmer.

I just asked a f***ing question - that is all
I haven't agreed with a lot of your agenda but to be honest I think it's a valid question. I don't think we made THAT much from the Man City game, given that we have to share the receipts with City whereas for a League game we keep it all.

With regard to club finances I've always been in the 'live within your means' camp as opposed to the 'speculate to accumulate' one - that way we'll still have a club and not be in League Two looking at relegation to the Conference on minus thirty points. Perhaps that mindset's changed which I would find worrying.

Fortunately Dick's masterstroke in selling Hammond rather than letting him walk away for nothing has helped immensely!

Is there any prize money for winning rounds of the Carling Cup? I know there is in the FA cup. If so there must be money available that we certainly wouldn't have budgetted for.

Falmer relies heavily on us being in the Championship with 2 seasons to go it is hardly a suprise we have seen a little more investment in trying to achieve that.

I know the winners get £1million and the losing finalists 1/2 a £million £100,000 for a televised match and not sure on the lower rounds money £20,000 for a second round victory i would imagine.

Same old agenda based on knowing nothing.

Let's discuss it if and when we know what all the figures are.

Having said that I don't expect us to be told - why should the club divulge details of players' wages/contracts? Should they not be confidential? The only figures I have ever seen are those guessed at on NSC or by the press. Hardly a sound basis on which to have a discussion on the club's wage bill or, going further, for criticising the board for spending their own money.
