I was under the impression that we had money to spend this summer? To build one of the best squads in the league and all that?
If slade has got a decent budget to play with then what are we waiting for?
I am reasonably pleased with the players that he has picked up but it seems as if we have only actually spent £150k. (ish)
We let 14 players go at the end of last season and so far we have signed 5? (I think)
If Mr Bloom has set us a decent transfer budget then where is it? Just hoping that we may be holding our breaths for a couple of signings that will set this division alight.
Please don't think I'm moaning, I'm really not, was just wondering what the rest of you guys thought because to be totally honest I was more excited last season with our signings on what I imagine was a tighter budget and that all pretty rapidly turned to shit.

We all know Bloom has a bit of dosh, but has he / Russell actually said how much would be used as transfer budget? Having already 'spent' £90m on the stadium.

My understanding was that Bloom has undertaken to finance the stadium, not to provide Slade with a war-chest?

Why do we need to spend when we can bring in quality players for nothing?
Needlessly Spunking money is not a good idea of your planning on building a football club, especially one with a shit stadium and making losses every year it would be reckless.

Yeah I think we all got a bit carried away.

It looks evident that we don't have any more cash than any team aspiring to be promoted. Bloody brilliant on the stadium funding, a tinge of disapointment that we are not bidding and splashing out but the free transfers look solid if unspectacular.

Its not so much about how much we pay to bring the players in but more about wages and bonuses.

I think the official message before pre-season was that we had a budget which was the same as last years which, if not giving an exact number, was indicative that we weren't in the "splash the cash" market but could afford to spend what was needed.

Last year we spent a lot on loans (incl a reputed £120K loan fee for Dicker) and reportedly spent £150K on McNulty.

At present we have spent half of that transfer fee total and have a smaller squad so there is quite possibly something still to play with. Add to that the possible transfers of Lynch and Murray and the next four weeks could well be quite interesting

Reckon it'll take two seasons for a promotion-winning squad to gel, and that this coming season will be the one we should have had last season. What with the forty odd players going through the revolving doors last season, there was nothing to build from. So... season of consolidation, stability, mid-season unspectacularness ahead methinks, a bit of a holding exercise. Followed by a full-on assault on the Championship the following season.

Interesting season ahead. League 1 appears to be ver competitive on paper. Huddersfield have splashed the cash, but not anyone else except ...perhaps the Albion ie Tunnicliffe. If Russell gets another 5 players as he wants, and keeps Murray then could be interesting particularly if we can gel quickly. What i do expect is that they will be fitter than last season, poor effort from Adams.. What will be good is that the away followings for the Albion and for clubs visiting the Withdean will be good, so more money through the turnstiles. What will be interesting is what crowds the Albion will get. Probably not much different from last season unless a winning side and playing the right football.
