On radio 5. Anyone been listening. Just a joy to hear our club being talked about in this manner. Even asking the question of whether we could ever win the Premier League (sensibly, mostly saying very unlikely)

I was thinking about this the other day. If we assume that the most we ever sell in one season is two of our top players and even then Tony would try and keep it to one but for worst case let’s assume two. Our strength in depth is such that it’s hard to definitely say any more who our best player even is.I think the point they missed there is that it's really difficult for us to keep hold of the top players and a top manager, so as soon as we progress enough to challenge the top few, they'll try and buy us.

Based on age and potential it could be any one of, Joao Pedro, Baleba, JPVH, Verbruggen or maybe Hinshelwood. I’m not even including Mitoma due to his age or Ferguson due to lack of game time. In the past it’s felt inevitable who the next to leave would be but now we could lose one or two and still really thrive without even needing major investment.
Perhaps one day, when Tony has accrued so much money that he doesn’t know what to do with it, he will say enough’s enough, let’s go and with the bloody thing. Sadly we’ll never be that rich compared to a rogue, oil rich country. We could sell one or two and still do well (thrive if you like), but I don't think you can mount a title challenge when you're always susceptible to losing your best players, and manager. Baleba is great, but how long has it taken to get to the stage where we've replace Caicedo? We still haven't replaced Alexis (maybe that's Matt, but I'm not calling it after one game). Each time they poach from us, it sets us back. Not so far back that we can't challenge for Europe, but far enough back that I don't see how we'll ever challenge for the title.
