Has anyone seen a SINGLE on track overtake in the 51 laps we have had so far? Commentators keep talking about drivers closing down to overtake the driver in front. I have dozed off a couple of times so could have missed some on track thrills

There was an overtake when Mick Schumacher took his teammate on the inside of the hairpin on Lap 1 or 2 but they cut away before the manouevre had been completed.

Dullest face ever.

I'm a big fan of F1 and love tradition and Monaco.

However, between the F1 bigwigs and Monégasque they simply HAVE to find some way of building a passing opportunity for 21st century cars on that track

Dozed off too. Not a great advert for the race F1 consider to the jewel in their crown.

If this was anywhere other than Monaco they'd bin it off, awful race today (even the Sky commentators were struggling to big it up half way through).

That said, maybe we were unlucky as had Leclerc and Bottas not been stymied it could have been a genuine fight at the front, but there we go.

The sole reason for the Monaco round is for sponsor willy waving. Pull it and teams lose money.

They've talked about the possibility of extending the track to include the new land reclamation Le Portier district area. They need to do something like this because Formula 1 is supposed to be entertaining and this was the least entertaining 2 hours of sport I have watched in 2021.

Give the drivers banana skins, a-la Mario.

Seriously though, I had this on while I was waiting for the football, and my god. The most interesting / entertaining thing that happened was the Bottas pit stop. That was very, VERY funny. The rest of the "event" was utter bilge.

Certainly the worst Monaco Grand Prix I can remember. Went one year (Saturday Casino Square, Sunday just before the Swimming Pool) and that was a great race. This was dull as ditchwater. TV feed from the local team was very poor too, cutting away or to a large graphic on the very rare occasion of anything slightly interesting.

Ditch the F1 cars for this race and get the drivers to compete in karts built by their teams on the same circuit.

Three twenty lap races on one day with each race being worth one third of a normal F1 race points. Qualifying decides grid for race one. Race one and race two finishing places decide grid positions for races two and three.

It’s pointless driving modern F1 cars round Monaco.
