Sounds like there was a friendly today between the Monaco academy and, presumably, our under-23s.

The Monaco report suggests we won, somewhat undeservedly, with goals from Joe Knight and Bailey Smith.

@AZ Gull may know more as there doesn't seem to be any real mention of this fixture from the Albion end.

That’s why Gary Dicker put something up on Instagram earlier then !

Joe Knight and Bailey Smith are u18s, both aged 17.

From a quick google of the first few Monaco names mentioned, it looks like they were playing u18s too.
Yes, from the few Brighton players named, I didn't recognise any as from the U21s, so assumed it was a younger age group.

Even their twitter link has copied Albion into the tweet.
Poor showing IMO

Was just going to post this! Pity there isn't a team list for the Albion included.

Fortunately, there are quite a few photos from the match on twitter and instagram (plus posts from some of the players and a couple of names mentioned in the Monaco match report). A bit (who am I kidding, it's been my main task this morning) of research leads me to conclude:

* It was probably an U-21 fixture, given that head coach Shannon Ruth and assistant Gary Dicker seem to have managed the side.

* The (incomplete) breakdown of players includes the following:

U-17s: Charlie Tasker, Joe Knight, Zane Albarus and Harry Mills

U-18s: Tommy Reid (GK), Hugo Fisher (GK), Bailey Smith, Ruairi McConville, Jamie Mullins, Mark O'Mahony, Kain Ryan and Luca Barrington

U-19s: Killian Cahill (GK) and Casper Nilsson

U-20s: Jack Hinchy

Have been told the second goal definitely wasn’t scored by Bailey Smith and the Monaco person got the wrong name. Don’t know who did score though, sorry.

Actually, our first goal was scored by no. 11 Luca Barrington! (54 seconds on the highlights). I'm guessing someone was given a teamsheet with incorrect numbers on it.

Makes sense. Good detective work as ever AZ! 👍

Substitutes used:-

12. Charlie Tasker
14. Zane Albarus
15. Charlie Penman
16. Kain Ryan
17. Bailey Smith

I believe goalkeeper Tommy Reid travelled but not sure that he got on the pitch.
