I bought a pay as you go dongle from Quidco to use on my laptop on holiday and it was a little slower than my normal but still ok worked out at £2 per day, £7 per week, £15 per month I think from 02.

Try to stick the dongle in a usb port and it should work after you have downloaded the drivers.

I think you need to be wary about the package as I know peeps who have been stung when they have used extra usage beyond the first "free" bit.

Wait, the whole idea of a dongle is that you can put them in your pc? So why ask if you can, just read the bloody website?

Just a question - I've just cancelled with Sky, given them my 31 days notice, and they've said that they could cut my phone line within 10 days (bastards). I need my internet so I can sort out my degree stuff until I move out in mid-September.

Is the Pay as you go stuff worth it? I see there are weekly / monthly packages on the PAYG for £30 for the dongle and then 7.50 for a week's allowance (1Gig) - is that a good deal? Has anyone else heard of better packages?

I was looking into this for my sister as she lost next doors internet.

There are a lot of web-sites on the pros and cons of each network.

Heres one or this

or Read this

Lots of these networks get slated by poeple online, I could never find the best deal in the end for my sister but my old boss at work used vodafone that was good.

Even though 3 look like the offer the best deal cash wise.

In the end my sister got back online piggybacking off someone eles router. What a waste of time that was for me

There was a BBC report recently that some of the mobile operators were charging £200 per gigabyte if you went over the monthly limit!

Personally, I'd be more worried about the lack of decent reception in some areas.

She does realise that's theft?

Yes but she knows not to abuse there network, She knows not to d/load or tube etc. Only just a bit of harmless browsing.

I also believe people that leave the router unlock do it as the feel the like to share there bandwidth with others. I know some people out there don't have a clue how to set the router up as well, usually they are easy to spot.

But the persons router she is backing off, has set his own name to the router. Not just the default NETGEAR or whatever router it is, so they know what they are doing with the thing.

I know ISP don't like this that's why bt,sky, virgin have it locked by default.

I used to leave my router unlocked and called it freenet in the road I lived in once. It was not a busy street so only two naboirs really could pick my router up. Unless someone was sitting out side in a van or somthing. I've had to do that before myself when I needed the net once.
