Eh? Akram took 43 wickets in the Championship at 33 runs each, pretty handy that plus a couple of good knocks with the bat early on in the season. I'd have kept him on but it looks like he's moved for the money.

Me too, but why is money a problem, surely last season proved if nothing else that we need quality to compete again.

Surely gate money was up last season what with 20-20 and the spin off from winning the Championship, so its lack of vision and just general gripiness from those in power IMHO.

Yeah but we still can't compete with Surrey, when they want a player they'll get him, no matter who he's playing for.

Shame they're SHIT still.

He was in the middle of a 2 year contract, Non?

He asked to be released for 'Personal Reasons'. Since when did Personal Reasons include lining your own f*****g pockets.

What a f******g Cocknocker!

Yeah I was prepared to give him the benefit of the doubt, but f*** it.:tosser:

Presumably we then get Alex (talented but always injured) Tudor, who has been released by Surrey

Out of the two if they were fit, I'd always pick Tudor...........

as for Akram, well whilst always disappointed to see a new boy not come off  its hardly the end of the world. i don't suppose he'll settle in surrey either.

Maybe it's time for a clearout. People like RMJ, Mongomerie and Yardy are mediocre and need to move on.

Meanwhile Ambrose should be given a kick up the arse. Kirtley got more runs than him last season which is a disgrace.

We should get Kabir (?) Ali from Worcester and Steve Kirby from Yorks.

I'm not much fussed about Akram leaving - watching him several times this season he appeared talented but egotistical - his head goes down too easily. When he gets carted by bowling too short, his usual response is is to try and bowl shorter and faster!

What won us the championship last year was our team spirit - they played for each other and the whole was much greater than the sum of the parts. This year the same spirit didn't seem to be there, or maybe the hunger had gone.

Tim Ambrose is a very good player, but I agree he needs to make progress. He's such a good prospect (Michael Bevan says he's one of the best young batsmen he's seen in a long time), that he needs at least one more year.

As for RMJ, his bowling improved this year after his time with Dennis lillee last year, but his batting seems to have gone off the boil. Still a useful player to have.

And Mike Yardy - give him a break - he's only 24 and only got to play in 2 county championship matches this year. And he scored his maiden century in the second of them. With Cottey leaving, he'll get a chance to play regularly. We've invested 4 years in him - why ditch him before he's had a chance to get a regular game?

Totally agree, too many mutterings of 'Oh f*** not Yardy' last season and most of them were totally unjustified, I say keep him, and RMJ for that matter.
