What is it that he says? Sounded like next year maybe I have to leave but that would make no sense based on the rest of the interview.

Anyone understand what he says at the end?

I think he meant the squad is getting so much better, so I may be binned off as I won't get a game, but I'm just making that up so I don't know

I reckon he says "next year maybe I have to lay here" by which he means stay at the club.

I don't think he says "leave" there. Not entirely sure what he does say but it wouldn't have made any sense in the context of his answer.

As an aside, pretty shoddy on the accessibility front for the club not to at least have closed captions uploaded for this.

I took it as "lay" here as in stay.

Will be tough to hold on to him, on one hand he is an incredible talent but also from a commercial point of view he brings a lot to the club.

Difficult to quantify the commercial element but judging by the many Japanese fans you see at the Amex clutching bags of tut, he adds alot of money/profile to the club, that wouldn't go unnoticed!

I believe he said "next game," not "next year." Maybe "I (have to focus on) next game" or something like that.

I think he says 'next game' not 'next year'.

I don't go to games very often, so to see the sheer number of Japanese fans outside the ground after the match, all with huge bagloads of merch and the ubiquitous Mitoma 22 shirt, was a sight to behold
We were trying to guess how many Japanese fans are at games now. We landed on 250-500 based on the fact that we notice them every single game, always on the big screen, can always find some in the crowd. I guess a lot are tourists, if you've visiting London it's not far to add a Mitoma trip in. Also must be a fair few at the Uni, which may be regulars?

Unfortunately, I can see that the stalling on the new contract is simply another way of running it down to the end of this season, at which point we’d then need to sell, as he’d only then have a year left on it.
Hopefully my instinct is wrong.

Don't panic! I'm sure he wouldn't be talking about leaving in a post-match like that.

Like others I'm sure he said next game, not next year. Something like "next game we have to let it, yeah".

Earlier he said something like "we have to let it, next game, next game" when talking about the squad and managing so many games. I think he meant take it one game at a time.

So at the end, I think he was saying next game we'll let it happen how it happens, take it as it comes, sort of thing. They were talking about him enjoying playing so I understood it as: next game maybe I'll play, we'll see what happens.

I think his English has improved massively, it must be so hard answering questions from journos who don't always make their language simple and clear. And there are English players who don't do much better
