'The River Wyre becomes tidal below the weir at St Michaels. It’s got about another 13 miles to flow to reach the coast from this point.'

I've done a bit of googling, and the tidal range in Morecambe Bay is among the highest in the world. Currently, it is around 7 metres between high water and low water.
In the spring tides, the range can be 10 metres. I don't know if this is a factor, but I would imagine it is, where the River Wyre is tidal. This may be why the police have just announced she may have been swept out to sea.

If, IF, she has, and her body is recovered, then I assume questions will be asked about the quality of decision-making in the earlier part of the investigation.

It’s very sad but understandable that the information the Police released today was not made public sooner.

This is a normal missing person case but the information void has been filled with mass speculation and blame due to private information being withheld. I don’t know what the answer is but it’s clearly been a lot more painful for the poor family involved once the conspiracy theorists entered the stage.

I hope she is found soon.

So she had specific vulnerabilities, but we're still not told what they are. Her partner knows and has done several press interviews but said nothing. At the end of the day though, there is no trace of her and no ideas how she left the area. And with the vulnerabilities the police said they thought she fell into the river. It is so confusing that is why it is still headline news.

Police have just issued a statement saying that the vulnerabilities were around significant issues with alcohol that had been brought on by her struggles with the menopause that had resurfaced recently and caused some real challenges for her husband and the family. Police and health officials attended a report of concern for welfare at her address on Jan 10th.

It just doesn't make sense. Vanished off the face of the earth.

Surely, if she fell in, the body would have been found. I remember when the lad at Newhaven got fatally swept in, the body was found within 3 days if I remember correctly.

What ever has happened, I just can't imagine what them poor kids, and the rest of the family, are going through.

Last night I read (caveat again: I now can't recall if this is credible or nutjob territory) that there's a weir downstream and when sheep fall in, they're generally stopped by the weir and make it no further. It's because of this that I think the lead chap of the diving investigation company that helped scan the river, has said he doesn't think she went into it.
I suspect the answer may be that sheep are fat round woolly things, with very heavy fleeces when soaked. Humans are more streamlined (most of us!) and more likely to slide over the top.

Virginia Woolfe committed suicide by drowning herself in a river and wasn't discovered for 3 weeks.
Nearly a century ago. Bit more tech available these days. And potential witnesses.

Agreed, the point I was hamfistedly trying to make is that there are many documented cases of bodies in flowing water not being found for weeks or months. If she has gone into the river, it's not that unusual that she hasn't been found yet.

Why would the police hold back on this info? There's obviously a considered reason.....but why?

How many white actors, of any class, do you see in adverts on tv now? It's certainly not representative of the white population in this county. It doesn't worry me greatly but let's not pretend that discrimination is all one way. It most certainly isn't.
So it worries you a bit?!

Why?

One of those white balloons recently spotted having arrived from Neptune came down and swept her away

Simples.

I’ve not followed this thread closely to be honest but has anyone considered she may have been abducted by aliens…. I’m just throwing it out there for discussion.

It is with the level of focus in this case. She’s not in the river.

Privacy. I suspect the family didn’t want to share that information and I can understand why.
Fair enough. I wondered if it was some sort of strategy to help them find her.

Not convinced by this theory personally. Unless the weir becomes ‘not a weir’ when the tide is high it’s difficult to see a body going over it…….and the distance involved is enormous - unless there has been very major flooding - for a body to travel that far without getting snagged somehow on any number of obstructions. It’d be a bit like falling in not far from Pulborough (highest tidal bit of the Arun - one of the fastest flowing uk rivers) or north of Henfield (Adur) and ending up in the channel. Not saying it can’t happen but seems highly unlikely given the river hasn’t apparently been in flood.
