When we beat them at the old den in the second leg, wow that was intimedating, I remeber what did make me laugh was one of their fans got on a fence and cleaning kicked a coppers hat off, I was a kid and made me laugh at the time with the way it was done

That was a hairy night. You could cut the atmosphere with a knife. But you starting dopey threads dragging it all up again, doesn't help anyone. All clubs have their neanderthal element, Millwall more than most. But I don't expect any trouble next Tuesday.

my old man was old bill and went to the goldstone with a few mates for the night game. they waited down the front
until the f troop came over the fence into the northstand. They all pulled their wooden truncheons out and proceeded
to have a good tear up.The local old bill ran down to the front, realised that my dad was police, turned and went
back up to the top and waited for it to finish

the play off game at the den was an experience.
i was 31 then, there were 50 year old 'pwoppa nawty' geezers (not the chavs they got these days) trying to climb the fence to get to us.
we made it all the worse by blowing kisses at 'em :)

Was this the game where they started a fire in 1 of the stands and the old bill required horses to clear the stand after?

Not involving Brighton but I went to Millwall v West Ham at the old Den in November 1992 with a school mate. I was only 14 at the time. He was a ST holder at Upton Park and went to a few aways but was a bit wary of going to Millwall on his own so I went with him. It was switched to 12 o'clock on a Sunday but don't think I've ever felt as frightened as that day. "Why the hell did I agree to come to this? It feels like Armageddon surrounded by f***ing lunatics" ran through my mind throughout the match. Everyone seemed to be between 18-40 years-old and intent on behaving like animals. Millwall got awarded a penalty right in front of us and a hail of coins rained down onto the pitch. There was a very sinister atmosphere with George Parris - the only black player - getting terrible racist abuse and Trevor Morley getting wolf whistles and girly screams not long after he'd got stabbed by his wife and there were rumours about his sexuality flying about. West Ham lost 2-1 and the atmosphere seemed to get to the team. Tempers frayed after with the Police holding back the Hammers fans. We were just glad to get home safely. Quite an experience.

That was my frst ever away match, I was 14 I think and went on the Junior Seagulls coach. Remember having to draw all the curtains coming out to stop the breaking glass flying in. Was intimidating but great atmosphere. There was lots of things I remember, or think I do about that match/night, some amazing and some pretty obscene scenes, but it certainly got me hooked into away games. Although think the result helped there

I was impressed when they formed a human pyramid up to the West Stand upper, and poured up the pyramid to beat the crap out of some people up there who had thrown something at them.

I remember about half a dozen of them in the middle of the north stand, late seventies i guess (no, not their age), caused a bit of a fright, loads of Albion spilled onto the pitch to get away. Quite entertaining viewing from high up on the east terrace.

The 1985 game at the Old Den when we won 1-0 ( Mick Ferguson ) was an entertaining day.

They had not lost at home for about 18 months, Ferguson somehow ambled 40 yards into their half and scuffed a shot past their keeper. We went mental for a few seconds and then realised we were in deep shit.

There was a train direct back to Brighton (I think), we had a police escort onto the train, but there were a lot of faces I did not recognise, and the atmosphere was sullen. At the next stop, the OB got off the train, and about 20 blokes got off the OTHER SIDE onto the track, picked up a load of stones from the track, and took out every window in the train. All the tales about hooligans not picking on scarfers, kids, women etc proved to be total bollocks, this was as indiscriminate as it gets.

I remember that play off away leg. When they set fire to the stand my dad said to the copper near us in the stand "are you gonna give us all an escort out of here?" to which he said "your joking, I'm not going out there!"

Also there were Millwall "fans" on the bank to the left of our end lobbing stones at us. One bloke near me got a nasty injury to the eye. I remember them singing "you'll never make the station"

Happy days
