On the day Netanyahu says ‘no‘ to Blinken’s request for even a temporary ceasefire ….this … running out of superlatives that express what ‘this’ is frankly …

I guess every Palestinian still in North Gaza is a target now regardless of who they are.

Isreal‘s membership of the UN should be suspended until the Netanyahu government call a temporary ceasefire to get injured civilians out of the field.

When the Russians bombed a Ukrainian hospital, did the UK an UK call that a War Crime?
War crimes are relative to the eyes of the beholder. Like most things in life, even football. People will argue on the basis of self or tribal interest.

If you were to draw a small moustache on a photo of Netanyahu then most of the Jewish population around the globe would take offence. But killing thousands of innocent civilians is OK apparently.

Please note my use of the word MOST.

Yes. Because it was a war crime.

Amnesty blamed Ukraine for stationing soldiers within cities though, which was a very weird take, but there was rightful outrage about that Amnesty report at the time.

No point in playing distasteful "Genocide Olympics" though to point score which genocide is worse and "wins".

I think the point being made isn't which genocide is worse - more that the Russian action was called out as a war crime / genocide by almost every Western country while Israeli actions are not, despite being on par with Russian actions.

Looks to me like they are driving them all into a corner and bombing the shit out of the whole population. Seems to be a policy of bombing as many people as possible in the hope of hitting a few genuine targets. Any support for peace within the Palestinian population must be diminishing by the hour. That’s a level of revenge that I can’t understand from a country that from it’s history should know better. They have lost the moral ground but it seems whatever they do gets a thumbs up from the U.K. and U.S. Governments and their oppositions. WTF ?
The Israeli government should hang its head in shame.
The idea that the Israelis had the "moral ground" or even close to it before recent events is a laughable fallacy. They were oppressing, occupying and killing Palestinians long before last month.

& Hamas were firing dozens, often hundreds of indiscriminate missiles into Israel every single day. Not to mention the regular & planned senseless murders of defenceless citizens, celebrated with dancing & plates of sweets in Palestine.
But you know that

Feel free to list the numbers of deaths from Hamas rockets versus Israel's policies againt the Palestinians.

Palestinian casualties of Israeli military action over the last 10 years outnumber those in reverse by about 50 to 1, but you knew that already.

Maybe we should gift the Palestinians an Iron Dome.

I agree - because for ‘most Jews’, comparing their elected Prime Minister to a Nazi dictator that rounded up 5 million Jews because they were Jews and threw them all into the gas chambers or had them shot in massive in firing squads, would be offensive.

It’s is not helpful to keep bringing up the Holocaust and comparing it to what Netanyahu is doing in Gaza on a number of levels - and yes, most, if not all Jews would find that offensive.

Point taken.

I just find the hypocracy and media spin absolutely galling.

I agree and there’s been more children and women killed out of those Palestinian totals too than with Israeli casualties - but any innocent death Israeli or Palestinian arising from the Palestinian conflict is a tragedy imo and a sad indictment on years of political leadership in the world that has allowed this to drag on for so many decades - doing a numbers game doesn’t make it any less painful or any less likely to entrench hatred on either side towards each other - it just perpetrates a cyclical pattern of tit for tat violence.

I can't support either side, but just want the killing to stop. Arab's back years have been diametrically opposed to the Jewish, who are diametrically opposed to the Arabs. The Arabs (Palestinians) have always been more blood thirsty (hence some people applauding Hamas' initial activity), but the Israelis (Jewish) got clever and asked the Americans and the world to help with funding to arm themselves to fight back with power. Hence some Palestinans got into bed with Hamas, and form alliances with Hezbollah or Iran, whilst Israselis power themselves with the Western World for support (do we or just our governments?), and in the middle millions of people who really aren't arab or jew, but just happen to be born or live there, get decimated in the middle. Here endeth Ted's very high level, superbly and probably wrongly generalised summary of the last quantillion years.

But what I don't understand is there has been nothing that has been tried in the last 100 years to resolve this regions issues to anyones satisfaction, so why do they keep going down this route of blowing each other up. Hamas are bloodthirsty as are the Palestinians who support Hamas and voted for them. Israel and BN seem to have armed themselves to the back teeth and now see no course other than blowing Hamas up. Does Hamas have to be blown off the planet to resolve this, or will that simply open the door for someone else. Will Netanyahu remove his tanks from Gaza when this is done. He's been pinching land under the guise of removing terrorists for ages....

I still always find it interesting that there are no women that I can see of power in these situations, just men...Truly never quite sure what that says, but an interesting observation.

Bet Putin is loving this, takes all the pressue off his land grab and rape and pillage of other innocent people.
