Starmer lost my vote at the next election after his comments about the siege. I cannot support a party leader who is happy to the condone the death of thousands of innocents so as to maintain a public image. I can't get that out my head. Especially from a lawyer who is well versed in human rights.

Spoilt ballot paper it is. Starmer lost every ounce of respect I had for him in that one statement.
Sunak has your support? By dint of your not voting labour?

Ok, mate. Fill your boots.

Unfortunately Hamas is not just the Palestinian’s or Israel’s problem but the worlds problem. Even Egypt won’t open their border to Palestinians - been effectively closed since 2007, so it is Israel who supply the water, electricity & the flow of goods & services …. & in return the Israelis receive missiles from Hamas every year.

The civilised western world governments are overwhelmingly in support of Israel. There will be some tutting, but Israel will now sort this problem out once & for all.

And once Hamas is hopefully erased please God the poor subjected Palestinian people can get on with their lives & elect a government in fair elections - who knows in years to come, there could be peace, friendship & alliances just as Israel has now with former enemies.
We are normally poles apart, politically, but I agree with you.

Starmer is a poor man’s Blair, and look where he lead this country.

Into a quiet and modern era.

Bookended by two tory wankers.

What exactly do you imagine the dull electorate of this country to vote for?

And how exactly do you do this? Hunt down and kill every Hamas member in Gaza? And while trying to do so killing many more innocents - which you think won't create more Hamas fighters?

I don't think it matters in my constituency. It is Labour held. So I won't be helping the Tories in.

I hadn’t seen this post by @Steve Foster before - I thought it would be helpful to link to a less-one sided perspective of the history by the United Nations formal paper on Palestine- outlining a very complicated sequence of events …several times Israel pulled out of peace agreements and stalled progress and violence has always been backwards and forwards on both sides - the current conflict stems back to before 1947 and to the League of Nations under UK Administration when the Palestine Arabs where the last territory in the Ottoman Empire that had not gained their independence ….leading to the violence on both sides to this present day

Sorry its really long
The history of Gaza & Israel:

Here are some quick points:

1.Israel was attacked from Gaza everyday from 1948-1967
2. 1967 Egypt and the Gazans massed their troops on the Israeli Border and announced “We will throw the Jews into the sea” and stepped up attacks.

3. Israel counter attacked and captured Gaza. The same exact thing happened in the West Bank and Golan Heights at the same time. Israel has since ceded the Sinai back to Egypt for a lasting peace.
7. Israel starts building settlements inside these territories to act as a front line defence
8. Due to international pressure, Israel withdrew unilaterally from Gaza without any blockade and left them thriving businesses to use in 2005.
9. Hamas took over and burned down all the businesses and held elections and won the election. Jimmy Carter oversaw the election and said they were fair. They rounded up the opposition parties and executed them. That was 2006. There has not been another election since.
10. Weapons started to flow into Gaza, so Israel blockaded Gaza but allows, to right up until this war, all goods to come in, except weapons and materials used to make weapons. Israel also provides Gaza with clean water and electricity.
11. Gaza was and is the largest receiver of international aid per capita than any other place on earth, other than Ukrainian recently. Hamas uses this aid, YOUR tax payer funds to build weapons, tunnels and smuggle weapons to murder Israeli children instead of building the infrastructure for their own children that ISRAEL provides for them.
12. Since 2005 Israel did not have 1 soldier or civilian occupying Gaza
13. Hamas is using their population, who also support them for the most part, as human shields despite the fact that Israel calls all the civilians on their cell phones and tell them to clear out certain areas before they attack. What other military does that? America? UK? Russia?
Lastly, Israeli civilians have been attacked by missiles and terrorists every year since they have withdrawn from Gaza in various waves of strength. They could have made peace with Israel at any time since 1948. Israel is done. No more. No more aid. No more food, water or electricity = No more Hamas. This was a Holocaust, a pogrom. Israel will continue this fight for its survival now until Hamas, who are ISIS barbarians is no more. Anyone who says otherwise is simply an antisemite. There is no in between. There is no defending them. They are not your friends or Jeremy Corbyn’s.

Even if Hamas are removed and no one replaces them in Gaza. Its only one piece of the jigsaw, Israel just keep stealing land. Seems that too much is never enough for them

There will be peace, a two state solution, giving back of settlements & land when the Palestinians, Israel & the world are free from Hamas.

USA has largely cleansed the world from ISIS.
Israel needs to do its job & the western world governments know that.

In Israel we trust.

Leave where though? Gaza isn't exactly very big and they won't have any luck getting into Egypt and Israel is out of the question. Whilst a warning is better than no warning, it doesn't really help unless you are a good swimmer.

If Hamas is the sole problem, why wasn't there a 2-state solution with no land-grabbing before the formation of Hamas?

Additionally, how is a war on civilians going to win hearts and minds? A generation will be radicalised.

In the meantime, women get on with campaigning for peace, together.

This type of event is what eventually lead to peace in Northern Ireland when women on both sides joined together. The only way in the end for things to change is when both sides realise continued violence is not the way. Hamas and the like will never change but like the IRA can find they have less support.

I'm no expert but there is Bob Hope and no hope of Israel clearing out of the West Bank with or without Hamas, there are 750k Israelis living there.

Think you need to do a bit more reading on the subject...

I think @WATFORD zero has put inverted commas around the word 'support' as it isn't the correct terminology to use about this brutal conflict for reasons that have been repeatedly mentioned on this thread, including my message addressed to you.
Semantics imo, but consider your view respected

If there had been a Tory government at the time there would have been a war. So who would you have preferred the last 5 Tory pms or the 4 that proceeded him. Note there was no other labour option which would have got into government. Or would it be Corbyn who refused to condemn HAMAS....

The dropping of leaflets even happened in WW1.

Being a cynic especially when it’s government, the reason Israel has announced the attack is so when they murder innocent people they can attempt to exonerate themselves.
