Someone connected closely to the club told me today that Michel's match may not take place until the end of the 2011/12 season or the start of the 2012/13 season.

This would be a great shame although I would hope FDM would still be held in high regard at this time.

Perhaps something will be arranged by the club this coming campaign to ensure the great service Michel gave the club is still in the forefront of peoples minds if this situation occurs.

What a load of bollocks.

Kuipers does not deserve to open Falmer.
he's been great - but so have LOADS of players over the years.

Let him wait - he could have had it at the end of last season if he'd wanted.

i cant see them waiting 2 years after someone has has left for a trestimonial. why wouldnt it be next year as expected and why not bring it forward as would be the more logical option?

Because at the first Falmer friendly, everyone will care about the ground and nobody will give a toss about Michel f***ing Kuipers.

It wouldn't suprise me at all if it didnt happen next summer.

We can only have one first team friendly. That wont be the testimonial. Prior to that we have the ramp up events. However I have wondered what the terms and conditions of such events would be.

Tell you what - why don't you just give that game a miss, and the universe will then maintain natural balance. Plus, you don't deserve to be at the opening game at Falmer anyway, so it all works out.

Harsh.

The thing is, loyalty in football is a very rare thing these days. Kippers signed for the club after being sold the Falmer story. 10 years later he is still at the club (albeit not now), and never got the chance to play there. The man campaigned hard with the club and the fans to get the ground, stayed with us till the very end. He loves the Albion.

So no, he is not just another player whose done well for us over the years. He has probably been the best goalkeeper, and certainly one of the best servants of the clubs history.
It is only rightful that Kippers testimonial takes place at Falmer at some stage.

As much as it pains me to say it, it's not really yours or anyones place to say who deserves or doesn't deserve to be at falmer for the opening game now is it
