There were over 50,000 illegal graves found in Mexico in 2020 with an estimated 70,000 people buried .

Drug cartels are killing people at an alarming rate and lots of innocent people are among the dead .

It shows no signs of slowing down .

My question is why do people still choose to holiday in Mexico when statistically it’s one of the most dangerous countries in the world .

We went five years ago to an all-inclusive place and were told pretty much to not leave the resort - so we didn't.

Not a problem because it was a huge place and the whole point of the holiday was to go somewhere hot and do as little as possible. Had we wanted a sightseeing break, we may not have chosen Mexico.

Corrected for you.

I have never felt comfortable buying a cheap week in the sun on the back of an exploitative bunch of shitehouse bastards, grinding the bones of the local poor to build their palaces (and hotels).

Bodies hanging from bridges all over the country has been common place over the last couple of years . It’s drug cartels sending out warnings apparently. Often the heads have been cut off . Mexico has some seriously dangerous people & there are thousands of them !

But the sun shines in places closer than Mexico?

Do you think cutting off their tourist income would improve the situation?

Eh? Surely the question is why do people continue to buy illegal drugs in the relatively-rich West knowing full well the misery caused by the illegal drug trade - the death, explotitation, people trafficking, sex worker trafficking and abuse of the poor, women and children that is involved? Just so you can have a good Friday evening or enjoy a Saturday with the lads at the football. Utter ****s you are imho. (yes, I know most of the drugs on our streets don't come from Mexico but it's the same principal).

Heroin should be legalised asap.

Newmarket.
A friend of mine went there late last year with her husband and she tells me they (were shitehouse?) were ripped off at every single opportunity and often by someone openly in possession of a firearm.
Needless to say, she also told me they ain't ever going back.

You don't do Cornwall then?
Bang to rights.

That said, I had enormous difficulty buying crack and an underage escort last time I was there.

There's always Mexico, I suppose.

(perspective.....<sigh>)

Exactly! It’s the cocaine trade that caused the problems, not the tourism.

How many of those murders happen in holiday resorts serviced by British travel companies I wonder?
There was that one a few years ago where number European women were raped alongside a few killings. I’d never visit Mexico, that’s been my stance for a decade or more so I am puzzled people go there because it’s unquestionably violent. Nearly as violent as the States, another country I’m done with visiting for the same reason.

often wonder why every time there is a shooting in US it makes the news, while thousands murdered in shootings throughout central america, doesn't register more than a Stacy Dollittle expose in 2015.
