Inspired by BarrelofFun on another thread talking about Rebecca Cartwright, I'm asking do you use metric or imperial in every day talk? I would use feet for sure.

Tedebear. I saw her filming in '99. I went on a Home and Away tour. She was about 30 metres away.

So...METRES and CENTIMETRES or FEET and INCHES?

Metres and centimetres only.

I don't even know how long a 'foot' is.

mainly imperial.

I must be of that 'certain age' that I always believed was reserved for people far older than me!:(

It's the length of my foot. How many people know their height in metres?

I think my height in metric would be just slightly under 2 metres, but if anyone asks I just tell them I'm 6'5'' and they seem to understand that.

PS: 1 foot = 12 inches, 1 inch = roughly 2.5 cms, so 1 foot = roughly 30 cms

Feet and inches all the time. It's an age thing surely? I'm the wrong side of 40 and couldn't tell estimate a metre if my life depended on it. 3.28 feet though, no problem.

The number of times I've measured stuff in the house in feet and inches, only to get up to B&Q and find everything in bloody metric crap. Grrrrrrr

The last time I went to B&Q with metric measurements the young assistant asked me what it was in feet and inches:thud:

I don't know about age, I'm nearly 50 and as I was taught in metric, I measure most things in metric: metres, kilometres, kilograms, celsius (in fact, I particularly struggle on Fahrenheit).

However, it's always pints and gallons for me. I can't cope with estimating volume in metric.
