Anyone remember our new assistant manager swinging on the crossbar and getting his boots caught in the net in front of a packed north stand.

Last game of the season, scorching hot day, 2-2, wonderful Ian Chapman own goal.....what a game

I remember that. During his warm up wasn't it in front of a laughing North Stand. If my memory serves the physio produced scissors to cut him out.

That own goal was COMEDY CENTRAL. I think it won best own goal of the year on Saint and Greavsie.

Quality.

Wasn't that own goal against Dirty Leeds, I say this as that was the only game I ever got to see at the Goldstone.

One of my all time top 10 days supporting the Albion. I think we needed some points to help in our battle against relegation (I think we stayed up easily enough in the end). Leeds were the champions elect.

At the start of the game the North Stand started singing 'Is that all you take away' to the 5000 or so Leeds fans packed in the East Terrace. I honestly thought one of them was going to explode with rage at that chant. Then Day trying to look cool ends up in the back of the net for no reason.

Throw in Chapmans comedy own goal, a late Albion equaliser (Was that a diving header by the great JOHNNY CRUMPLIN?) and Leeds fans charging the North Stand after the game (which emptied pretty quick) and that's what makes supporting the Albion worthwhile.
