Elbow - The Seldom Seen Kid
Radiohead - In Rainbows
British Sea Power - Do You Like Rock Music?
Robert Plant & Alison Krauss - Raising Sand
Burial - Untrue
Estelle - Shine
Adele - 19
Laura Marling - Alas, I Cannot Swim
Rachel Unthank and the Winterset - The Bairns
Neon Neon - Stainless Style
Portico Quartet - Knee-deep in the North Sea
The Last Shadow Puppets - The Age of the Understatement

Not THAT exciting. I did enjoy the British Sea Power album and Neon Neon is excellent. I've not really heard the rest of them so cannot comment on it too much. Burial is an interesting selection and may just win as they've not awarded it to an 'urban' act since Dizzee, plus Untrue is a genuinely interesting listen.

I was very underwhelmed by the Burial album considering the praise it got.

I like the Neon Neon and LSP albums a lot, at least it's not gonna be joke band like last year

Just looked over all the previous winners and the only one I would call a stonewall classic was Primal Scream, Screamadelica, in 92.

Depending on your musical tastes and all but New Forms by Roni Size/Reprazent is a classic.

How was Latitude?

Was good cheers. Go Team were the best band I saw although Glasvegas and This City were good. I only went to see This City because my mate is the drummer and they are from Brighton, really not my sort of music but were suprisingly good. Comedywise the best I saw was Russell Kane, absolutely brilliant. Also liked Ben Norris and Andrew Lawrence.

Lots of kids there which was a bit weird and my mates ex was there so 50% of the conversations were about her which was slightly gruelling but all in all a good time was had.

Also I fear I may have broken a rib whilst dancing in flower patterned wellies with a pink trim. Well gay.

What's people's opinion of the Foals? I saw them at Latitude and while my mate thought they were great it just confirmed to me that all there songs sound the same and that they are quite boring.

Foals are f***ing excellent live, imo, but I can see that the album would get a bit long if you listened to it too much.

British Sea Power for me, loved them at latitude and a great album, Elbow were good there too.
[
Couple of 'finds' at latitude for me were Fields, Heloise and the Savoir Faire and Noah and the Whale.

I kind of hope that they do give it to Adele as then hopefully she'd f*** right off like 90% of Mercury winners.

John Lydon denies 'racist' attack

John Lydon has denied claims by Kele Okereke from Bloc Party that he was racially abused and attacked by a member of the Sex Pistols' entourage at a music festival in Barcelona.

Okereke claimed he had been attacked by several men after approaching Lydon backstage at the Summercase festival.

He said the 'unprovoked' attack left him with a split lip and bruises.

But Lydon has said: "I feel very sorry for a man that needs to lie about what was a perfect evening."

'Intimidating and aggressive'

Okereke has described how he was set upon after asking Lydon if he had considered reforming his former band, Public Image Ltd.

He said the punk singer became 'intimidating and aggressive', while someone in Lydon's group told him, “your problem is your black attitude”.

The Sex Pistols were playing the festival in Barcelona

Okereke claims he was then attacked by three members of Lydon's crew who punched him in the face and head.

It is understood that Yannis Philippakis from Foals and Kaiser Chiefs' singer Ricky Wilson tried to intervene in the fight, which was eventually broken up by festival security.

It is claimed the fight was later reported to police in both Spain and the UK.

Philippakis referred to what happened at the Latitude festival on 20 July.

He told the crowd: "We were in Spain yesterday and I got into a fight with Johnny Rotten.

"I don't know why I'm telling you all this, but I was handcuffed and we nearly didn't make it."

Lydon has responded with a statement saying: "After the show, John Rotten and management remained behind to sign autographs, which we did for four solid hours without incident and had a great time talking to other Spanish bands.

Kele was on a weekend break before Japan dates

"This seems to have sparked jealousy in certain bands.

"The trouble was brought to us, resulting in those causing the trouble being physically removed by festival security.

"It's a shame that the wonderful world of the media is riddled with nonsense like this"

He added: "Grow up and learn to be a true man."

Bloc Party are about to kick off a tour in Japan and the US.
