Sorry for the hijack.

Isn't he pretty much there already with World Cup appearances taking away any doubt?

Not to say he still won't get loaned out though. :Jester:

Hopefully but as I said its not guaranteed. Because of where Japan are ranked Mitoma would automatically qualify if he'd played in 60% of their games over the last 2 years. He hasn't got a 2 year period to take into account because he only made his debut in 2021. So he may still need to go down the points route. There is also an option that we can make a case for him to still qualify under exceptional circumstances because he hasn't got a full 2 years of international appearances to take into account if he has played in 60% of their matches since his debut.

I'm guessing you're staying with Mitoma and haven't returned this thread to Maty Ryan.

I'm only going by what been on NSC, probably even this thread.
But I was left thinking he was close anyway once he came to Europe.
Playing internationally iced the cake.

A league title and World Cup appearance removes any doubt.

But I'm no expert - t'is only second hand knowledge from someone else who isn't an expert.

#TheNSCWay.

Unless I'm wrong, a World Cup appearance would guarantee it. The problem is that the World Cup is in November while he would need his work permit in August.

A 6 month loan to USG might see them knocked out of Europe and him have enough points after the W.C. but yeh I’m not sure he’d auto qualify yet. Maybe on appeal. This at least might help him start more games for them instead of being super sub.

If my math and my interpretation of the rules is correct, he'd auto-qualify.

Playing in a band 2 league = 10 pts
Playing 30-39% of the minutes in a band 2 league = 4 pts. Currently he is on 39%, if he reaches 40% it is 5 pts.
Playing for the title winner = 5 pts, playing for a team that reaches either a continental competition or the qualifiers to a continental competition = 1-4 pts

With USG qualified for the Belgian playoffs where everyone gets a place in Europe, Mitoma should already be qualified (you need 15 pts) unless his game time drops below 30% and USG end up last in the playoffs... none of which is likely to happen.

Weird framing.

"It appears that Brighton & Hove Albion are going to welcome back two of their players currently out on loan this summer."

...

"a game that saw the Brighton loanee score the final goal from an assist from another Seagulls player on loan there, Deniz Undav (who will also move permanently to the Premier League side in the summer)"

So... three brighton loanees will return.

Been watching him playing for Japan in a friendly vs Paraguay - just scored a lovely 3rd and has had the Paraguay RB on toast all game. Looks to have bags of pace and ability, be interesting to see what he can bring to the side next season (assuming Potter wants to keep him around).

I think Potter would be daft not to at least give him a chance!

He is getting a chance in preseason. Up to him to impress Potter’s massive brain

Did enciso play in that game? Do you think he’d be worth pursuing if he did play?

He sustained an injury to his jaw on 8 May, surgery was successful but out for 2 months so rest of Libertad season.

On the plus side, this might have given him more time to prepare for a big move - hopefully to us.
