Men's 1970's fashion

Cheshire Cat

The most curious thing..
there is NOTHING wrong with 24 inche flares, high waistbands, and lapels that look like albatross wings.

I never wore any of that rubbish. Mine was two-tone strides, brogues and Ben Sherman shirts, levi jeans and occasionally DMs. Saying that I did wear tank tops - well it was the 70s, oh and I did wear a Starsky & Hutch cardie for a while.

Easy to pick out some of the worst examples and make fun of them. There's plenty of stuff just as excruciating from the 80s, 90s and beyond. Yes, there's a lot of 70s looks I wouldn't go for now (the haircuts were pretty awful!) but I still own two lovely jackets from the 1970s which would still look good today (a view endorsed by teenage and twenty something daughters).

Unfortunately, they are now several sizes too small for me............................

To my eternal shame and embarrassment I own up to 2, yes 2, safari suits in the early 70's. Will I ever be forgiven?
