How GOOD was that.

Sends shivers down my spine, and a massive beaming smile of my face whenever I think about it.

We were completely down and out. OH MY DAYS.

I've never felt such a complete moment of ecstasy before in my entire life EVER as when Virgo scored that goal. It was UNBELIEVABLE.

Then we won. We were going to Cardiff. I had a permanent smile on my face for DAYS and DAYS afterwards.

Oh memories. :clap2:

even better was the Millwall game at home in the playoffs

4-1....the whole ground heaving...Millwall fans all over the ground....when Codners goal went in I was jumping around hugging this bloke, who turned out to be a Millwall fan.....nice bloke luckily.

Great day

Yeah ok, the game was better.

But nothing will ever match the sheer EMOTIONS of that moment.

I remember you lifting me off the ground in a hug a moment or two there Dave :jester:

The Swindon GAME was utter shit. It pissed it down raining, we were so bad it was untrue. We had barely any shots on goal and hardly pressed Swindon at all. It was one of our poorest performances of the season.
120 minutes of utterly shite football.

It was the 15 seconds at the end that were amazing!

I hate penalties as well, so I was so tensed up I could hardly think. I had to close my eyes when Swindon were taking theirs, just chanting to myself "please f*ck it up, please f*ck it up". God bless you Tommy Mooney, you only went and did it.

All I felt was total relief that we had done it. I didn't really know what to do with myself because i've never experienced such a rapid turn around of emotions. From frustrated, angry, misery to ecstatic disbelief in about 15 seconds. I don't know if I ever want to go through that again.

The Millwall game was a much better occasion. No-one gave us a hope in hell of beating Millwall. We'd got 1 point out of 6 against them in the league, they'd been in the top flight the previous season. 1-0 down when Mike Small turns brillian again after being quite shit for the previous few months. The goals, the Albion destroying the opposition, Millwalls racist scumbags silenced. I really though we were going to the top.

That game just summed up the range of emotions being a football fan.
I came out of the away leg thinking we would do enough to go through - probably bag but certainly not concede 2.
Had to watch the second leg at home in Bath with all my mates from uni round. I remember the hope draining away as the game went on, with my mates were not being completely sympathetic, but then when virgs scored...
Nearly smashed the telly, did smash the kitchen table and then had a quality night out...
I bloody love football, me

I was in the Engineer headbutting the table in disbelief until Birgo scored that goal at which point the whole boozer went CRAZY WILD.

When it got to penalties I was so sure we were gonna do it I just stood there watching in silnce with my arm around a mate. Still went bonkers when the winner went in though.

Being absolutle soaked, knowing I had my first A level in the morning and wondering why had it all come down to this.

The couple of minutes or so bewteen full time and extra time being the worst, I just sat their with my head in my hands thinking we wouldn't do it, if we did we'd be taking the serious piss out of Swindon and if we didn't then God was taking the absolute piss.

Remember Virgo in the last minutes of the game just smacking the ball so hard up the field, just above Mooney's head and seeing the determination on his face that we were going to do this.

What a day that was. With 30 seconds to go I remember thinking that we'd totally blown it. Then a Swindon guy fucks up and we win a throw-in halfway through a last, defiant chorus of 'Brighton till I die' which quickly turns to frenzied screams of encouragement as it really is now or never.

I will never forget what happened next.

Harding's (I think) throw, flicked on masterfully by Danny Cullip. I can remember exactly my thoughts for the next few seconds. They went as follows:

'That's a good chance'
*Virgo heads ball in*
'It's gone in'
'That means we're not out'
Then all hell breaks loose and I start hugging random strangers whilst watching the full harris fall down about 5 rows of the south stand but still grinning and cheering anyway. From that moment you KNEW we were going to win the shootout and get us the day out in Cardiff which to be fair is all I ever expected it to be; going up proved to just be an added bonus.

Plus I met a Swindon fan at uni the other day, and also a guy in my corridor's dad who went to that fateful game, also as a Swindon fan:lolol: :clap2:

i was sitting there getting thoroughly pissed off and thinking it was the worst time i had ever got wet. we were shite and i was thinking that we were doomed for another season in div 2 and we had let ourselves down with our terrible performances.

then virgo planted it in the back of the net i went mental and forgot about being cold and wet. when mooney hit the bar i nearly wet myself and when the winning penalty went in, i remember the rain slowing down for the penalties and at the time i was thinking that it had to be a good sign. i was scrambling to get to the pitch whilst laughing and shouting about the wankers that had left ten minutes before and missed it all. i ran straight into dick knight when i got on the pitch eventually and gave him a kiss.

it was one of the best nights i got home soaked and covered in mud but i just didnt care, also woke my palarse dad up to give him the good news and gloat

the goal by virgs has been my head ever since and i will never forget that. And i will give you a word of advice if we get to another penalty shootout go up and down the stairs take three steps up and down, and hopefully we score a penalty because i did that and we scored all ours. :clap2:

I`m sure that`s what got you promoted then you walking up the stairs must have put the opposition right of.
