Memories Vs Memory Cards

Right, this is a bit of an odd one but here goes.

Your going to a bit event and naturally you take your camera to record the event, but how many photo's/videos do you take before you are concentrating so much recording the thing you forget to enjoy it and soak up the atmosphere. The amount of people taking snaps of any big event now is enormous but sometimes i see people spending a large amount of their time playing/altering settings with said gadget that surely it cannot be as fun as just going and getting into the vibe of what you have gone to see and you can actually miss quite alot visually as well.

So, are camera's actually ruining your day/night out without you even realising it?

That's why a GO-PRO Hero with camera mount is the ideal solution. Wear a helmet with the camera strapped on, press record, enjoy the event!

They can come in useful if you take one on a night out though, where you otherwise wouldn't have remembered anything, but the camera does all of that for you.

Although that's not normally a good thing...

Interesting question. Aside from a few amusing and occasional piccies taken with my phone I rarely take photos at events or when I travel. At gigs I certainly prefer to be in the moment as opposed to distracting myself by recording the moment. And I prefer to remember things the way I remember them, and I don't need a camera for this.

Actually quite a thought provoking post.

Pretty much this.

I've even seen it in a couple of clubs recently if acts are making a big entrance. If you can see and operate a cameraphone in a club then you're clearly not mashed enough :rave:

I went to malawi to build a classroom in a remote village. when we arrived they were singing and dancing around us with drums and nearly everyone in the bus had their cameras out, and weren't joining in. It felt like such a shame that these people were making such an effort (many had not seen whites before) and we were just sticking cameras in their faces. From that moment on i've been using my camera a lot less for the reason you mentioned. A lot of the time someone else will take better pictures anyway, and you can just take them
