Southampton got shite depth in their squad. Their first eleven is better than a lot of teams including Brighton, but that is pretty much where it ends.

A couple of years ago they signed players for lots of money, like Guido Carrillo (£25m, 10 games before getting released(?)), Angus Gunn (£14m, now on loan at Stoke), Wesley Hoedt (£16m, now on loan somewhere), Mohamed Elyouanossi (£16m, on loan at Celtic) and Mario Lemina (£15m, now loaned to Fulham). They royally ****ed themselves and are now paying the price.

Just been for a walk with my Saints supporting friend and he was very disappointed by the lack of pressure particularly in the later stages. Couldn’t disagree. Where was the Alamo ?

I phoned a Saints fan friend today. The opening went : “Sound check, testing, testing, one - two, one - two!”

I don’t think he was amused. :D

Oh....I've just pinched that too, if you don't mind. Sent it as a Whatsapp to a birding friend who has been strangely absent from all communications since Sunday:lolol::lolol:

Having read the comments from Saints fans in the local rag, the Echo, and their fans forum, the Ugly Inside, a couple of themes are apparent.

Firstly, the majority admit that we were the better side. We were hungrier and our tactics were spot on, with Potter making positive changes when required.

Secondly, the criticism aimed at the club (Southampton) seems to be universal. The owners, the structure of the club, the players, the coaching staff, the tactics - just about everything is a target. Their collapse since the New Year has been disastrous (4 points from a possible 36) tells the story.

They will probably escape relegation because of their points accumulation prior to Christmas. As for next season, though, they could be in a whole heap of trouble unless things improve from top to bottom. Many of their fans now expect a defeat to Bournemouth in the Cup - ouch!

Having trawled through a lot of the same stuff, I also noticed a fair bit of “where’s the passion Ralph.?” And “Why isn’t he bawling them out from the touch line?”

Made me feel quite homesick!

Personally very glad we didn't have that I measured my heart beat during one of those games where we were holding on and it was close to 130 and that was sat down on my sofa....
