Quoting a Millwall fan on their Rivals message board:-

"Magoo came with a game plan, saw that Tuttle didnt a clue, pushed men up and got 2 easy goals and should have had more. They had all the things we didnt - passion, fight and heart. These games are not about skill they are about fight - and we didnt have it. "

Something for all you McGhee Out enthusiasts to ponder?

In his interview it sounded like he took a chance today and played 3 strikers against their 3 defenders in the hope that it paid off and for once it did!

As a confirmed McGhee "in-er", I of course have to salute the courage of ther manager in playing the 4-3-3, a system that has not worked well for him in his years with us, that horrible home defeat against Crewe springs to mind.

But things went our way today, almost the opposite the rest of the curent season.

First move of the game is Reid giving the best pass to their strikers they were to get all game. Thankfully nothing comes of it.

Then our first move of the game is a lovely deep cross by GNW which their goalie Marshall totally screws up. Then, as a bonus, their covering central defender falls over. Reid has all the time in the world to pick his spot, 1-0.

Then, our much-maligned set pieces, 2-0.

From then on, you could see how the second goal just transformed the entire team. Relaxed, fluent football - our midfield 3 absolutely titanic, our central defenders not far behind.

In the second half, we mostly spent the game showboating, a beautiful masterclass by CKR in how to get an opposition player booked :lolol: Poor old geezer Colin Cameron made a mug of time after time :clap2: :clap2: :clap2:

Maybe it's too late, but is just shows how close we've been this season to turning our ton of draws into comprehensive wins, just that second goal to RELAX the team and let their football and talent flow.

Well done the team, a great day    :drink: :drink: :drink:

So you're listening to a Milwall fan's view?

You'd be better placed to have an opinion on the game if you had seen it for yourself.

I've just got back and we won because we outplayed them in every way.

Yes, we had more passion, but we also showed more skill, we set up better chances and looked good all game.

I can't remember the last time I've seen Brighton look so good. The win was well deserved, if they can play like that for the rest of the season they might even just escape the drop.

To be honest, i don't think our performance was any better than last weeks, in fact it might have been worse.

Millwall were shit, and McGhee's gamble paid off - bringing back Reid was a great move, and the new formation (at least until Hart went off) worked a treat.

Sure. I always find it refreshing to discover what opposing supporters thought of our performance, rather than just rely on the kind of one-eyed, blue and white (or in today's case, burgundy) myopia you find on NSC.

You'd be better placed to have an opinion on the game if you had seen it for yourself.
Absolutely right. That's why I went.

I thought MM got the tactics spot on today, 4-4-3 was a superb tactical move by us.

Did we have 11 outfield players then

a lot of people say playing 2 strikers up front just doesnt work against 3 defenders.

you play 1 upfront or 3
